Alright, just to satisfy your curiosity about Secret Sword Number Three...

Seems to indicate that it's a sort of force-reflection/redirection technique - very similar to the one that got used on Stella before, but with a sword this time, and some kind of rapid rotation (POWER OF SPIRAL I wouldn't think about it too hard) to 'carry' the force towards what he needs to redirect it at. It works well against what Stella tends to open with because she tends to go the 'power overwhelming first' route.

Hence the name 'Madoka' (円) - The 'circle' - representing the movement required to 'return' the strike, and also the fluidity between defense/attack, life/death, victory/defeat - if he even messes up the timing a little bit, he'd be dead, pretty much.

It is, however, not a perfect reflect -unlike that particular guy's ability- and Stella is plenty tougher than she was the first time she took that particular gobsmack to the face.

Stella also picks up on its flaw pretty fast, in that it takes time to prepare, and once she switches approach to going for powered swordsmanship instead Ikki gets put back on the back foot again.

Also because Ikki doesn't really push his advantage and instead semi-goads Stella in coming at him again. Asking the likeliest person to kick your ass to try harder to kick your ass - I think he and his brother aren't that different after all. It's confirmed, the Brothers Kurogane are so M that if they weren't also way cool I'd be puking all over the floor.

Speaking of upgrades, Shinkirou gets one too. But I wouldn't wanna ruin that one for you.

Simple equation: Super Speed + No-Delay Acceleration + Afterimage Tech = ?

Reading on, holy crap is the fight a long one-up fest.

Also, Shizuku literally dying of jealousy in the stands because she will likely never get to 'dance' with Onii-sama in that way. Poor girl.

I think she actually floors herself the first time he uses Madoka on Dragon's Nest, while her later attempts at disarming him through rapid two-handed strikes also result in her nearly disarming herself in the process. So I wouldn't say it's merely nullification, but rather imperfect reflection - because clearly Ikki does hit a wall later. Ohohoho.

Or at least that's what I'm pretty sure is happening. Nullifcation alone would honestly still put Ikki in a bad spot, and also make zero sense because then he'd need power to nullify power, instead of doing what real-life martial arts do in using the enemy's strength/speed/movement against them, which would be much more efficient, and in his case even necessary.

So Ikki really still hasn't shown all 7 of his techniques yet before getting his 8th one? I thought he might already have done so by Volume 9. Someone needs to clarify this.

Anyway, if Stella is also at Majin level and she didn't have to awaken, whereas Ikki had to break his limits and also awaken, doesn't that mean Stella still has more room to improve and could be stronger than Ikki at the end of the series? Or will Ikki still be stronger? Also, does he or does he not permanently have a greater mana capacity?

Basically the question of who is stronger is really hard to answer: Partly because we don't quite have a point of reference among the people watching them - nobody 100% understands what's going on. Edelweiss kind of knows, but even she doesn't know what it means.

So yes, Stella is at Majin-class, or so Kurono describes it. She literally goes a few steps away from being a miniaturized Neo Granzon in their fight, while Ikki is probably comparable to Leo Regulus just before he dies in Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas.

And yes, we are talking that kind of power that makes even pro Blazers go 'what am I even watching'.

But it seems to be hinted that since Ikki has defied his 'destiny as a Blazer', this if true also means that something about him has fundamentally and permanently changed in order for him to be able to defy his fate in the first place. Who knows what he will be able to do in the future? So the answer to 'who will be stronger?' is really very up in the air.

Finally listened to the Drama CD included with BD vol 1. Stella's voice was really cute the entire time, and also lewd especially at the end. I wish there had been more of Stella being like this in the anime.

I think usually it's because Ikki gives in most of the time, or at least plays for a peaceful outcome in daily life matters - some would consider that 'being whipped'/'having the total crap beaten out of yo' sorry ass' although I'm sure there are a lot of men out there who wouldn't complain about this.

A battle is a totally different thing from that. That's not Ikki the Boyfriend or Ikki the Classmate or Ikki the Guy you're facing, it's Ikki the Knight; that person is a lot less well-disposed towards losing.

Of course, what I really mean is that coded321 was talking about a different kind of ass-kicking than you seem to have assumed it was. You are both right. You're just talking about two different aspects of Ikki's life, in which he has different attitudes towards giving ground to others.

@Everyone else: Yeah, I agree Disavatera here. In normal, everyday life, Ikki has a calm disposition to losing and would also be content with even just having an "okay" outcome to his fights with Stella or other people. But when comes to battles, as Ikki the Knight, he'd prefer to come out as the winner as he'd hate to lose. So yeah, two different attitudes and two different aspects to Ikki's life.

But yeah, he'd of course be scared and nervous over the prospect of having to meet Stella's father. It's a given. He has to set a good example and get him to accept him as his daughter's future husband. And he has even more reason to be worried of her father because she said he can be even scarier than Shizuku was when she found out that the two of them had just had sex.

Anyway, it's interesting how Ikki just became even more possessive of Stella. This novel might need to have "Possessive Lover/s" added in the categories list for it on Mangaupdates now.
