Definitely reminded me a bit of Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou with slightly less fan service.

I have to say, from the roster of characters they've introduced already, they could build a lot of relationships with that MC.

For me, the odd mix of normal Animation and CGI for the Monster Girls in the episode felt really odd. Other than that, everything else is ok i guess.

As for the character design changes compared to the Manga, well the only one i noticed is that Minotaur Woman from the start had design changes from being a house-wife (with really big breasts, and in around her 30's) type body structure in the Manga, to a woman who was like a half-gyaru in her late 20's in the Anime.

As for the plot, well they removed the flirting of multiple monster girls towards MC at the arena and only kept the Cat girl one. They also reduced and simplified the arena battle as well (removed all the action part completely). Though they did add that Cyclops girl here, who wasn't in the Manga at this point (not sure about the LN, as haven't read it yet). They also reduced Sapphee's physical interaction towards MC as well (she is a lot more huggy and possessive type in the Manga).

The way the CGI was used here draws attention to it being CGI, not the best decision.

watching the episode 1, this might be one of stuff that I'll watch until the end
They got the right VAs, decent pacing, and beautiful visual

Well, they shortly afterward mentioned that mermaids can drown too as long as they breathe through their lungs underwater.

I think the second episode was a lot better than the first. Yeah, it still had a level of O-noises, but the story worked nicely and the songs were very well done which cemented the plotline more than if they'd been more generic. Also a kind of logic that dried up gills would impact breathing from an amphibious species.

Yeah, I liked this episode.

Maybe she has two "voices": lung-voice and gill-voice. It makes sense since making sounds rely a lot on key parts of the respiratory system, and mermaids may have respiratory systems that enable two kinds of voices to manifest.

Also trivia: fish can drown while underwater if there's not enough oxygen in the water. There's a lot of factors that can deplete oxygen in water.

it is getting better on episode 2

Lulala's arc is simple but because they inserted the real song, it become much better
Jealous snek is cute.. but her tail control is outstanding.. she could fish out both Glenn and Lulula from water easily from water

The ending song is really good as well.. love it

I really like novel and by extension anime too, but I feel it try too hard to be ecchi even if it woul better stick with stuff if does well.

Kunai's moaning is something that missing from manga

so she could not feel pain but could feel pleasure/ticklish? Her creator is really twisted

and Glenn's cold reaction is just brilliant.. truly a true doctor

More like trying to be some sort of hentai; like a few others in recent times. If it stuck to lamia 360 ahego girl and stories of that sort it would be a great show, but every time it just goes out of its way to make a really suggestive scene it's just annoying. They could remove the hentai stuff or make it full hentai and it would be way better in either cases, this middle of the road is just dumb.

Despite his appearance, he not only was able to swim/dive while wearing clothes, but he also went really deep in the water. And then pulled up by a tail that was equally longer than I thought. Just to save some random kid who randomly drowns for... no real reason. S...... sure... Also, it'd be nice if the character sang in a voice range a little bit closer to the actual character voice...? And it would be extra nice if they sang in the same language they talked in.
