It kinda felt like Division 1.5 when I tried the closed beta a couple of weeks back. Though not in a bad way really, I think if you enjoyed the first you'll be happy enough with whats on offer in this. There is lots of quality of life improvements and it feels like a bit more involving with settlement building etc.
The core combat felt pretty much the same with some new (and interesting) gadgets in the mix, but somehow it feels a little tighter overall, and enemies don't seem to sponge quite as much. Importantly it felt pretty polished, everything worked, there was no obscene load times (*cough* like anthem *cough*), I didn't notice any bugs, major or minor. And aside from the occasional server disconnect at the beginning of the beta, it actually felt like a working finished game.

Yup. Does feel like 1.5 to me as well. Not necessarily a bad thing, but not really a good thing either. Felt/looked polished, but most of it was the same. Visuals of the Division 1 were and are still impressive, but there doesn't seem to be a much of an upgrade with Division 2 despite it being finished a 3 years later. I did enjoy Division 1 as a solo player initially, especially the story as well as the side missions; however, later down the road everything became a bullet sponge and all the guns just felt...the same. Never got even close to end game. I'll probably be waiting on final reviews for the game, but I'm more than likely not gonna pick this up unless there's a miniature sale of some sorts.

That's fair. I managed my way through the first game with some friends and it was pretty enjoyable, especially coordinating in the really hard difficulties. Though I did enjoy solo'ing to some degree (as I found it pretty atmospheric, especially the survival mode) it did get a little boring after a doing all the campaign missions.
I found some of the rare loot drop weapons to be a nice change from the norm but they defo needed more of them. Hopefully the campaign and loot table is a little more robust this time round.

It feels like Anthem and Division 2 are polar opposites in the trials/betas I've played of them.
Anthem's combat feels more involved, mobile and varied. Division 2 still feels a bit too static and cover based despite having more tools to play with. Anthem feels extremely unpolished with bad framerates, lots of glitches and other technical issues even during the trial period of the release version. Division 2 OTOH runs really well polished and I've only run into one glitch so far. It's weird. Division is what I wished Anthem ran like, but Anthem is what I wished Division would play like.

I can see where you're coming from but I think the divisions gameplay is a little involving than Anthems. The Divisions combat kinda feels more strategic and methodical, since its more about positioning / combo'ing gadgets and timing your cover transitions etc, at the higher difficulties. Anthem feels a bit flat by comparison, with just plain shooting at mostly static basic AI enemies feeling more effective at higher difficulties than zipping around with your abilities and such.
Going to give the open beta a shot later, to see if anythings changed since the closed run.

It handles a little better, and I found it to handle a shade smoother, but I still got stuck in some of the geometries. They also added an extra story mission for players to check out, and this time around, I got to solo the endgame mission with the Demolitions specialisation. I had no trouble getting ammo for the grenade launcher, which is so powerful it can one-shot even the named elites.

The beta's pretty much over now, and I enjoyed it quite a bit more than the private beta. For anyone who got in, I’d love to hear about your experiences with the RNG: who found purple items during the beta?

Been hearing and reading a lot of good stuff about Division 2. I'm highly considering picking it up. Itching to play a "new" game and I'll be off for 3 weeks from work soon so I'll have plenty of time to game.
Anyone having trouble logging on to the Club Ubisoft website? I have like 200 of those ubisoft coins and I might be able to use it to get a discount on Division 2 but I can't log on to their club ubisoft website (I logged in and it just stays "connecting"). Been trying to for 2 days now lol.

Maybe try it on a different browser ? I had problems resetting my password recently and it would just hang on when I pumped my email address in. It turned out that the ubi site just didn't like the Opera browser.
Anyway, I've been hearing good things too. My brothers pretty into in and he wasn't fussed on the first game, so it must be half way decent in any case. Though I'm almost at the end of a massive work project so wont be able to pick this up until after next week u.u

In regards to the club ubisoft website, I think their site was just running slow. Was eventually able to log on yesterday. FYI the 100ubisoft coins for 20% discount code only apples to games that have been released for at least 3 months and certain preorders. I just pulled the trigger and bought the game last night. Put in a solid 3 hours straight. Boy am I addicted. As I had said previously, although the game does feel a LOT of the same, Ubisoft had added plenty more to keep you busy and to get you to want to explore. I think the fact that it had been some years since I last touched Division 1 is probably why I'm addicted now. Also, I didn't even reach anywhere near endgame in the first one nor did I finish the story lol which I intend to for this one. Can't wait to play all week this week after work tonight! Lol.
Ugh, now I regret not preordering the game and not taking advantage of that Ubisoft preorder deal to get a 2nd game free

I blasted Aaron Keener a few weeks ago. In retrospect, it was one of the best bosses fights I've seen in any game for a long time.
