I can confirm that it seems that the first Ep of BorN has been dubbed, which is crazy. I'll let everyone know what up with the change (if it's happened) once I get the chance to watch it.

Edit: Yuck, can confirm. Picked out Josh Grelle in a millisecond. The Harem Anime singularity has begun, he practically sounds the same as Kazuya. Ugh. Found this post on Funi's Blog from earlier this morning:

FLOWER MOUND, TEXAS – May 2, 2015. FUNimation Entertainment announced today the cast for the Broadcast Dub of High School DxD BorN (Season 3). Weekly, subtitled episodes of the simulcast began airing on FUNimation’s streaming service on April 4 with new episodes premiering each Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Eastern. Now four episodes into Season 3, FUNimation will be commencing production on the dub versions of the High School DxD BorN simulcast.



The cast of High School DxD BorN includes the addition of Josh Grelle and Kelly Angel in the roles of Issei and Akeno, respectively. Grelle is a FUNimation veteran and fan favorite and is well known for his TV, movie and video game roles from Attack on Titan and Mass Effect to The Devil is a Part-Timer and Dragon Ball: Xenoverse. The remaining cast from past seasons including Jamie Marchi, Sean O’Connor and Jād Saxton will be returning for this season’s simulcast.



“’We have always tried incredibly hard to retain the original voice cast for our dubbed releases. However, there are instances where ‘life just gets in the way’, and this is one of those unfortunate situations,” said Justin Cook, director of production at FUNimation. “With that being said, we are proud to bring the talents of both Josh and Kelly into the cast, and though they have big shoes or bras, as the case may be, to fill, I believe our work this season will be the best ever, despite the changes and challenges.”

This was pretty bad as a dubbed i'd be worried about the future episodes. Though dubbing being faster is common place. Now if only we get DAL season II dubbed

Now that you mentioned it, Issei's new voice actor turned out to be Josh Grelle. The new Issei is all right, but I like the old Issei better. Scott Freeman done such a marvelous job of dubbing him.

Yeah I mentioned this earlier. My issue with Josh is that Funimation throws him at everything, and especially harem/ecchi/comedy shows. So now Issei sounds like everyone.

"Pervy Kazuya" is my favorite joke so far.

Episode 4 has been aired and as far as episodes go this was pretty good. outside of the ending with hammer time they didnt really bug me.

You know that the new Issei said in the very first episode of the third season on english dubbed version? Its something that you guys are familiar with...

Issei: "Her scouting level is over 9000!"

Boy, does it crack me up. After I seen that, then it makes me want to watch DBZ video about "Its over 9000" over and over on youtube.

I feel like contributing since I found this.
I've read the Novel Series 5 times(gotta reread it every time a new volume comes out pretty much, no regrets) and Personally, I love the Dub, Every character fits perfectly if you ask me. Not going into detail since thats not my specialty, so Just gonna focus on the voices I feel did best and the script.

The script, at first I was thrown off by well pretty much everything, but then it hit me, If they tried to do it seriously, Itd suck, it just wouldnt work in english. Now I cant imagine the dub without every other word being some kind of slang, sure it sounds stupid, but I have(had) the sub for a mostly faithful adaption and honestly I laugh more with the dub than I do with the novels, and thats not an easy feat to beat.

Now for Characters, first just let me say, I had no clue that English even had this many female voice actors with talent, I'm so used to lolis with adult woman voices and tsunderes with no emotion and so on.

Akeno: Its not what I imagined, but you know what? Its fucking better, Like Teri easily became my favorite female voice actor just like that. Absolute nothing sounded wrong, and I'm the type to complain about everything.(It helps that she voiced best girl for the first 15 volumes)

Issei: A bit too old, but other than that it was marvelous, every feeling that was supposed to be portrayed was portrayed beautifully. Nothing else to really really say, its just amazing to see that kind of quality.

Honestly, I dont plan to watch the dub for season 3 without them(not that I'm watching the sub currently anyway because the changes are so jarring and Ajuka should not look like that, might not even watch it at all till I can confirm that Saji gets his Moment to shine).

The JD chant was surprisingly good in the dub. I like how they made Issei's voice get lower and echo as the chant went on.

So, turns out Freeman was replaced because of legal matters involving child pornography, for which he has plead guilty and sentenced to 3 years in prison.
