Love the manga myself, so I'm hopeful a good studio/staff will get its hands on it! Wouldn't mind MADHOUSE, although the staff would've to be a good one. While they've done some underwhelming series in the past few years, there's also no denying that they delivered HxH 2011, which gets incredible amounts of praise from almost everyone I know.
That said, what I'm really curious is who'll be scoring it. In my mind it seems like the kind of series where Iwasaki Taku could go all out, so I'd probably like to see that happen

Wasn't that credits list a fake? If it's real, it seems OK enough apart from the obvious fact that KanaHana is desperately overused. Furukawa and Amamiya seem like really good choices to me.
IMS is fine - hard to draw much of a conclusion either way there. As for Watanabe, he's certainly vastly experienced - though I would personally say his track record is pretty mixed.

Strangely enough I'm okay with real-life cooking shows (Professional cooking shows with professional cooks, not that MasterChef Reality Bu@#$@#), but I could never seem to connect with cooking anime.

AFAIK, the manga doesn't use any "fantasy" food since its author is a nutritionist/former gravure idol, with Tosh only providing the art.
