Anybody else who've seen gurren lagaan a tad bit unsatified with this...
I don't know im on the border between satified and yet unsatified... About half of the later episodes... they all pretty much have plot and elements from Gurren Lagaan that has been ripped out and reuse. I don't know considering the last ep of Gurren... I was expecting something flashy and big. I did notice that they weren't going to kill the main cast off this time (Like they did with Kamina and Kittan) so killing off Senketsu was a bit unexpected... I was hoping he would at least be the only life fibre who would survive. Though I personally don't think this is actually over... well there is a OVA coming up but the end feels rather open. It like the ending of the first arc of Gurren Lagaan, Simon defeats Genome who is essentially the same as Simon a human possessing unlimited spiral power and after defeating him, libertated humans from the beastman and all lived happily ever after until some other worldly being comes and they go all universal god mode on each other (which Ryuko totally did not do on Ragyou) |

Evangelion end! As in ran out of money, awful lot of stills and action lines...
Fitting finale to a fine show though. Going all Tomino wouldn't have fitted with the rest. As always, Aroduc is unimpressed...

It was a good episode. All of us expected every event of the final episode so the only thing we can rate in it is the direction.
With the premise that the minds behing TTGL are also behind this series (and this episode in particular), you kinda expect way more of it to be honest. There were some good animation scenes nonetheless (we finally know what Yoshinari was doing besides LWA 2). The series was very consistent (hope we get to see more of this in the industry), deep with good characters.

It certainly was an ending.
The second half of the anime didn't live up to the promise of the first. What started out as an enjoyable battle anime with some hints of mystery to drive the protagonist forward turned into a lot more fighting for the sake of the plot. I know not all stories have to involve decent character arcs, but it is pretty disappointing nonetheless that they did not develop Ryuko more. Her motivations switched literally from episode to episode in the second half, leaving me scratching my head. Surprising perhaps no one, Satsuki came out looking better in that regard. There was a lot of dropped potential with fleshing out Ryuko as a person, rather than as a force that reacts to other characters. Problematically I also wish they'd be more consistent internally. The scissors only seem to cause lasting damage randomly. Otherwise, a reasonably enjoyable ride. Would rank it as average to better-than-average. Last edited by Wavedash; 2014-03-27 at 20:38. |

What a wonderful finale.
Such grandeur. Such magnificence. Such a large amount of nudity! Oh yeah....It finally happened! NEE-SAAAAAAAAAAAAN!! I only wished the epilogue was a bit more thorough... Oh...and the show's Gurren Lagann was showing. Ragyo=Anti-Spiral, Ryuko=Simon But...who cares. That was a good ending for a good show.

It was a good ending, but it didn't really come close to the 'HOLY SHIT THIS IS EPIC' feeling that I had watching TTGL final episode for the first time.
My feelings ranged from 'okay this is kinda interesting' to 'they're trying a bit too hard for epic here' throughout the episode

couldnt agreed more. their work may be not so master piece.(except TTGL) but its surly entertain while plot is not so fall flat and boring. and that kind of direct is cant see in every show now a day, to keep "FUN GRAPH" higher and higher along the show. hope imaishi and trigger got enough benefit from KLK to ready to start a BIG BANG WORK like TTGL again. |

Great ending.
Lots of good things. Poor Senketsu T_T RIP. Reminds me of Gargantia end. I assume the OVA is going to be that epilogue date and fooling around. Love short hair Satsuki, and Goori w/ flowers getting ready to ask Mako for real.

Finally finished the series.
It's been quite an awesome six months, and I'm sad to see it come to an end. Along with Madoka Magica and Attack On Titan, I can say that this show is the most finely crafted anime of The New Tens. No doubt it's gonna rival them in terms of popularity. I can't wait to see what Trigger has in store next. |
