I'm actually more hyped about it because it will be the 1st anime with Namaniku ATK designs and not because it's author is someone famous or something.

NAMANIKU ATK! Known for his work in Nitro+ and glorious Kyojin Doujins... Yeah he made them before Kyojin was actually popular.

Author is known for the Polyphonica series as well as Scrapped Princess. I think it's quite hilarious that both Outbreak and Chaika are getting adapted since they're both in opposite sides of the spectrum. Not to mention some of the things in the author's works tend to be pretty dark.

I summon teh Cosmic Eagle! He shall educate the masses on N.ATK!!
He might kill me if I did that.

Regardless both the Manga/LN are well drawn. Their isn't a huge discrepancy at all... compared to some other square/oval shaped adaptions...

From what I've heard he isn't involved in the production process of Outbreak compared to this one:

And yeah, it was really great having Namaniku ATK and Ookuma Nekosuke doujins for Shingeki until anime brought it massive popularity and tons of cheap doujins...
BTW ATK's only work in Nitro+ where he has worked on character designs is Muramasa, but I've became his fan instantly after seeing his artwork (and also several of his anime end cards).

Have you compared it to outbreak...?

I mean they did the author's earlier series Scrapped Princess. Make sense they'd use bones again. As long as they don't skimp on the action visuals and dumb the plot I won't mind. Its usually hard to animate a H-Artist's artstyle it usually involves a studio to have a lot of money.

*shrugs* I like the anime designs. I think they're fitting enough. I don't see how much closer they could get to the artist's style without having the animation quality take a hit, personally. (Not to mention that their eyes seem better proportioned to the actual size of their heads in that key visual than they are in Nekosuke's work...)

Looks nice, will watch. Besides I don't think anyone can properly adapt ATK designs into animated form to begin with. Some downgrade is always required for that kind of artist and the keyvisual doesn't look THAT different to the source, so all is good.
