I can understand Akatsuki's desire to be stronger since from her POV she is being left behind.

I think Mamare is quite brilliant here. I suspect part of the reasons why he didn't have Akatsuki tagging along this time around is to facilitates Tetra's introduction and her dynamics with Naotsugu and Regan. Akatsuki retorts any pervert things O-pantsugu about to say with a kick which can get old even if it was used sparingly. Naotsugu's conversation leads to greater potentials with Tetra. You could say that Tetra as a girl is even more pervert than Naotsugu, so their conversation can tread toward a rather suggestive direction most of the time. That is to say, with Akatsuki removed from the equation Naotsugu can have a proper uninterrupted conversation with Tetra.

Well of course, I'm NOT gonna confirm or deny it, but if you two are indeed correct then wow great. But really people, this is like the first episode that she formally appeared; I think it's still too early to tell. There's a few MMOs with voice chat built in, so you can generally tell from the voice unless they go out their way to use a voice changer.

But generally no. But I'm not basing my prediction on actual MMO attributes, its based on the tone of the series thus far and other anime flags.

This series thus far has played the male/female players breakdown very straight. The actions of the girl as girl characters so far as treated in this series as regular players and not "teehee, i'm a girl" And the times when a player isn't the sex the character is, its been a plot point like with Akitsuki, or some player created character (which I just consider an extra since I'm not even sure it had a line)

So when we suddenly have a new character introduced going out of her/(maybe his) way to play up the "teehee, i'm a girl" it sets up a flag in me because thus far, the other girl characters haven't been made to act like that.
And I just feel Tetora's mannerisms strike me as a male character trying to be what he perceives that a girl would act. Or one of those macho men in anime that crossdress as women.

Fair enough. My experience with lots anime has horned my skills in spotting anime traps.

Of course I know that traps =/= GIRL especially in this case where it could be male trap in female avatar, but I do think some anime savvy viewers would almost instantly associates uncharacteristically feminine pettanko with a trap and by extension a GIRL as well.

Here's an idea, if suppose all things being equal when it comes to Tetra's character except that she has an appearance and voice of a more mature and bursty onee-san. Now are you still gonna suspect that she's a GIRL?

Is there some kind of voice changing potion in this world though? Akatsuki couldn't hide her voice really once they were stuck in the game. I'd think that most people who played a character that wasn't their regular gender once this happened would be pretty active in acquiring those transformation potions. The physical potion makes sense to be in the original game as a mechanic. Could have developed one since they've gotten there, but I'm not sure how many would have been ok waiting on that and clearly standing out in the mean time.

For the moment I'll just take this new character at face value until some sort of twist happens. Could just be that she's an unusual girl. There are some odd people out there. I'd probably be more willing to buy the spy angle really.

Looks like they're going to run events from volume 6 and 7 simultaneously which makes sense since they happen at the same time.

Lets watch it on any spoilers people.

Loved all the Delicious trolling today too. Tetra is an amusing character, perfectly parodies the female MMO character who takes kawaiiko to the most annoying level possible and the series is quite self aware of it.

Years playing MMORPG taught me some things about girls acting very girly in-game. Either they are quite young or treat the game like a glorified chatroom. Either they are actually guys who try to get free shiny gears. Then there are some of the more withdrawn "girls" who are actually guys. Think of them like the genderswapped version of Akatsuki. I belong to that last category, because seriously the one on the right looks much better to me. Also, I will never tell I am a guy unless they ask me, because I think it doesn't matter when we play together and try to have a good time partying.

The question is there, but it's probably not important within the scope of the story. It's an interesting what if, but that's all it really is.

True this is so true; In MMO you cant fall in love cuz if you did; your in deep shet from getting scammed. Which I find this anime lacks the reality of MMO.

Never trust POSERs; but how do you know she/he is a poser?= One of the life-time mystery in mmorpgs.

BTW I always use girl avatar but clearly says Iam a guys...Its really unfair because girls have the more cute/sexy costume.
Besides It feels weird staring on you PC playing a male character. It sooooooooooohhhhh gay.....Might aswell stare at some animated girls' butt and chest!

I can't point why, but I found anime!Tetra far less interesting than her Novel counterpart. Especialy her interaction with Naotsugo was very shipable there... and yet here there is already bunch of people who thinks she is guy

I agree why play a boring guy if you have sexy female with different type of costumes, dress or armors.

As for the first one lacking the reality of MMO. I don't know. Well it just happen that the players shown are also friends in real life and isn't really an avid gamer on some cases but just happen to play the game. But if you expand it. There are GIRL's Playing there but not in the main cast so far. Marie's guild is more like a friend hangout guild be it in online or offline. Charasin starts a place where they chat and talk with each other. The only hard MMO gamers there are from raiding guild which is D.D.D. Black Sword and silver sword. The chances of having GIRL is higher because its more of a gamer's guild than the others.

Okay, that was another really good ep here.

The conversation between Marie and Naotsugu was very endearing - I was grinning from ear to ear.

Interesting that the dwarf shopkeeper popped up. In the ED (which is prolly my favorite one of all the series I have seen this season) it cameos her sitting on the couch looking at the sleeping Akatsuki, so I hope the two of them will become good friends. It kinda occured to me this ep that Akatsuki does not really have a friend she is close to and can talk to about things; she is still kinda solitary and a loner, in a way.

Was also nice to meet William - he seems a nice guy underneath the curt appearance he gave in season one.

And yeah - Tetra is delightfully crazy, but gotta admit Naotsugu really is a great guy. Very patient and just good folks. I wonder if Tetra is actually quite different than the front she (or he or whatever) puts forward all the time?

So what do we think Akatsuki meant when she said she understood why Shiroe had assigned her the task of guarding Lenessia? (No spoilers, please.) Obviously she thinks he has a deeper (darker?) motive. What might it be?

It does look like everyone's pairing up this season despite their various reservations. Isuzu seems quite happy with Rudy when before she couldn't stop thinking of him as a golden retriever. Assuming that they have shared a kiss or two along the way, I wonder how she handled that. Naotsugu was always pretty enamored with Marielle and her "volume," and she was always unsettled when he was around. (She hid in a box to avoid him in season one if I recall.) I fear that Akatsugi will never end up with Shiroe though, despite all the hints in the EDs from both seasons. He seems too remote to have a romantic relationship with anyone. We haven't seen Krusty yet so I can't tell where things stand between him and Lenessia. She was pretty cute when she sidled up to him on the bench near the end of season one.

Living near Boston, I have to laugh every time "William Massachusetts" appears. I wonder why the novelist chose my state as his name?

You don't recall well at all. Naotsugu was freaked out by Marielle, because she practically attacked him with her tackle-hug greetings every time they met. He couldn't figure out what to make of her, while she was obsessed with him.
