Ep 01
Hmm ... interesting. My reaction to the first episode was a bit different. I thought the adaptation choices in general were fine (though I could see why some might be reserved regarding the succubus teacher in particular), and on the whole I thought it was quite a good start. Ah well - what works for some doea not work for others. In any event I will definitely be giving the next episode a try.

Dunno what the differences with the manga are, as an anime-only viewer this was pretty cute! The idea is nice, the atmosphere is soothing, and the way the quirks of the demi girls are integrated with daily life is really creative and interesting (btw, since I used the word "quirk", now I keep thinking a similarly themed Boku no Hero Academia spinoff about people with inconvenient Quirks would be a blast ). I loved the bit where he interviews the vampire girl and how she gradually opens up about the weirder sides of her life. So I'm ready for more. I imagine the succubus teacher might become a romantic interest down the line, hope it doesn't descend too much into fanservice because I don't know whether it would fit the rest of the mood.

Knowing absolutely nothing about this series other than the brief description on an anime viewing site that I read right before I watched it, I must say that I haven't enjoyed a season premiere this much since the first episode of Hanayamata. Vampire-chan made this episode a delight for me with her exuberant, lively behavior. And it doesn't hurt that she's so gosh darn cute, as well.

This anime's first episode felt very lax and peaceful, I like that. Its dialogues are rather interesting as well. It's certainly amusing to know about this world's situation concerning demis. And what better way is there than to simply go with a Monogatari style script where the demis simply talk about themselves? I'm not a good talker, but I like to listen to people so watching this episode gave me peace of mind.

Seems fairly 'safe' so far. Like a more safe for work version of Monster Girls. I'm hoping they do something interesting with the monster angle and it doesn't just turn into cute girls being cute >.<

Episode 01
This was fun. I like Hikari already. She's quite the fun and cute girl. Lol the succubus teacher. And that dulahan girl. Lol when Hikari had Machi send in only her body to scare the crap out of the sensei. They're having fun with their specialness. I thought that there might be an issue of discrimination here with there being blood sucking vampires and all. But these demis are accepted in society. Everyone's cool with them. Like those girls talking with Machi without freaking out over how the head is on table. There will probably be things like how their specialness restricts them in some things, like how Machi can't travel by bus, and how the succubus sensei has to work so hard to control her sexual desires, and how Hikari has to occasionally control her desire to bite someone's neck for blood. There's this weird logic they've got going with how it is entirely possible for one twin to be a vampire and the other a normal human. This probably means Machi's family has their heads attached to their bodies. If they become more than cute monster girls being cute then this might end up being something more than a mere CGDCT show. Will there be some romance though? I hope not. |

The problem isn't her desires. Well, not mostly, anyway. The problem is that a Succubus can, completely unintentionally, seduce people simply by being near them. She is putting in an immense amount of physical and mental effort to try to offset that effect, not because she's worried about her self-control, but because if she didn't she would be raped the instant she stepped out in public.

Haha, aside from asking whether or not the usual “vampire weaknesses” are true, if I were the sensei, I’d ask about the natural life-span of vampires and which part of their growth goes slower than humans (assuming they have longer life-span in this universe). And since Hikari has a human twin sister, I’d ask about whether or not one of their parents is vampire and if so, which one.
Anyway, such an enjoyable episode. It reminds me of Flying Witch but with more dialogues. Well, A-1 made Shin Sekai Yori, one of the best anime out there in my humble opinion. So, yes, they can.

This was a nice first episode.
Strangely being a demi...seems to be like being a mutant. They have some different physical traits, but as a whole are relatively normal. Just with some unusual weaknesses and traits. Well aside from the Dullahan who is pretty darn extreme just by the fact of her head being detached and the flames coming from her neck! The rest seem pretty normal. Hikari is a cute character. A bundle of energy and should be a good source of entertainment throughout the show. Definitely gets the ball rolling at times.

So yeah. A-1 is HUGE, they do a lot of stuff and have a lot of teams. They can do anything, from crap to relatively good stuff, though even their best stuff tends to be "good fundamental of the crafts" and not "mind-blowing stilishness" the way Bones or Shaft's best works can be.

I won't say anything that is outside the bounds of this episode(potential spoilers and all that), but, based on this episode, it seems that there is some kind of special agency associated with demis; I'd imagine that, in such a case, they would investigate various aspects(personal background history of the succubus and the assailant) as well as whatever other in-story defined factors that could lead one to determine who is at fault.

Remember that the term they're regularly using is "ajin", which means "demi-human" in Japanese. By using "demi" they're shortening the English word for it, thus a) losing the obvious connection to meaning and b) sounding hip and young and cool because English . It seemed very realistic to me. Even though from an English speaker's point of view that may sound worse because it highlights the part of the word that is not "human", from a Japanese speaker's it obfuscates it and just becomes a cool-sounding new word.
