At first, the tropes were disgustingly off-putting; the girl in the rain, boy getting real sick(which I thought made no sense), said girl being super popular in class, the umbrella return... all situations that are generic as they come. But once the show got to the point where they were just slice-of-lifing in their apartment, it became enjoyable. Kinda reminded me of Romantic Killer(only cause it was the latest show I watched that did this; genre's different otherwise); I can enjoy snarky banter between two characters all day. I'm on board... for now; at least until they get to the bs drama stuffs. When they start revealing it to their classmates, other girls get involved, etc., it has the potential to go downhill. I might jump ship then.

Nice feel-good anime. Nothing special, but also nothing offensive or too boring. Seems like it'll be a good watch if nothing else. I assume it picks up steam at some point though with how much I've seen some people rave about the novels.

Very solid show really. I do like Mahiru. She's a steady character in a lot of ways. She can cover a good range of reactions and is just comfortable to watch.
It is funny that the guy gets sick from the rain while the person who was sitting in it until he arrived doesn't. I guess they can logic it out that his immune system is really weak due to the poor lifestyle choices he has been making. And while it's a slow start for these two, that's kind of necessary. Anyone actively chasing after Mahiru that intensely would push her away by doing so. Have to ease things along until that's something she actually wants.

I'm quite curious whether there's any sense of irony to the hilariously blatant sexism here, or if the author is just engaging in wish-fulfillment. Because generally speaking I did like both of them and thought their banter was rather fun, if patently artificial.

Amane really has a knack for finding Mahiru when she needs someone the most! Although I would have liked to have seen her attempt to rescue the cat .
The Opening...is a lot. I mean, the theme by itself is fine, but it's too high energy compared to the comfier, low-key, kind of romcom this show is, and the visuals don't match it at all. It's mostly just still shots or clunky or low movement animation, and mostly visuals of Mahiru which I guess is the selling point of the show next to the romance but doesn't really help it stand out. I'm not really sure what they were thinking here . Gotta admire a guy who straight up tells a girl to take her tights off...but Amane is a pure gentleman, he sees Mahiru's ankle is hurt and he gives her the privacy of his jacket and sweatpants so her legs aren't exposed and she can treat it and even gives her a piggyback ride incognito all the way to her place! Mahiru seems quite charmed by his behavior as well! Also, she may not be his girlfriend, but she did wear his pants . Sorry boys, I think Mahiru's pure and genuine smile is reserved for only one individual . Mahiru is pretty matter-of-fact and objective about most things, even her own attractiveness, although it's also why she doesn't see Amane as a threat and as someone she's comfortable enough being around in his place. Especially when she knows she can break him socially and in the family jewels if need be. Though does Amane even have a type? He seems disinterested in romantic relationships, albeit he probably pays more attention to Mahiru than he does any other girl . I know they're splitting costs and he's paying her extra for labor, but having Mahiru just cook for him and chill out at his place just makes it feel like she's really become his wife. Even Amane admits it to himself . Chitose seems like a very excitable, cute, and teasing girl! Seems like a good type to play off well with Itsuki, especially as his girlfriend, though she has fun with Amane too . Why is Mahiru such an overachiever? Why does she hate her own birthday? Why was it never celebrated before? How deep does her issues with her family go ? Thank you school ID for cluing in Amane to Mahiru's birthday! And with some advice he's able to pick out some practical hand cream and an adorable bear doll for Mahiru! And it's a critical hit! So much so that Amane has to resist patting her on the head thinking she's his girl, though it seems like we're building up to that . The ED is pretty nice (especially since it' sung by Mahiru herself, Manaka Iwami) and has better animation than the OP, with Mahiru enjoying the night sky, angel feathers, stuff related to Mahiru, and of course her and Amane together. Super adorable !

The pacing is good, the relationship isn't taking any wild turns as of yet. But yeah, it might or might not. It would be oddly refreshing to get a story that goes all the way on the straight and narrow without melodrama. The trick then would be keeping it interesting.

Fujimiya Mama has arrived! And it sounds like she's voiced by Hisako Kanemoto, with her usual exuberant energy! And she's quite the pushy yet affectionately well-meaning mother as she checks in on her son and how he's doing, and maybe find out about a certain girl in his life .
Even asleep Mahiru is utterly beautiful! And quite the sight for Shihoko to glimpse in her sons' bedroom ! Yeah...there's no way for them to talk their way out of this. A girl constantly coming over to his place, cleaning it up, feeding him, and generally spending a lot of time with him...how could she not be his girlfriend or how could they not like each other? Even Amane admits he likes Mahiru, he just rationalizes it as friendship. But Shihoko knows what's up and seems like she's already treating Mahiru as a future daughter-in-law. Poor Mahiru just doesn't know what to do with all this attention . So it seems like Mahiru has never really experienced real affection or warmth from a mother before she saw Shihoko. Her own parents never even call her by her name. What is up with her family life? Although if her parents won't call her by her first name, than Amane will, and Mahiru will respond in kind. And Amane even gave her a key to his apartment and she promises she'll continue cleaning and feeding him. Just get married already you two ! Shihoko wasn't kidding about Amane being a gentleman, buying a cake to celebrate Mahiru being first place in the rankings! And then it turns into the pair of them feeding each other with the cake. Just get married already !!! It's respectable of Amane to try and cook for himself instead of just relying on Mahiru all the time, even if Mahiru is a master cook and it's hard for probably anyone to measure up to her cooking...and she doesn't mind cooking for Amane at all, in fact she seemed disappointed she might not be able to feed him any more. But as long as she's willing, Amane will eat it ! Spending Christmas together chilling on the sofa and playing Switch games? JUST GET MARRIED ALREADY . I love how Chitose and Itsuki waste no time getting intimate and snuggle against each other. You can tell how in love and affectionate they are with each other, and how it's different when a guy friend pinches your cheek versus your boyfriend . Chitose knew a girl was involved with Amane and Mahiru wanted to see the snow on the veranda as much as Chitose and Itsuki did...Amane's got some explaining to do !

These two just get more enjoyable by the day. Amane's mother might be getting ahead of herself, but she's hardly wrong. Especially with how hard Amane is falling for this angel. Not that things aren't building up just fine the other way too.
His mother was again right. Amane may have a mouth on him and is stubborn. But he's also pretty sincere and a gentleman when it counts. And he's managing that with simple, but effective choices like getting Mahiru cake to celebrate her test results and calling her by name when she clearly was wishing to have more people in her life that would. Just seems like a countdown before they start actually going out.
