Finished reading volume 2. The author, has almost decent writing style, but has ways to go still (the story is not that good). He makes poor use of secondary characters...
Spoiler:
Volume 2 starts with a timeskip. MC is now 15 and is about to go study in the capital. Besides taking the entrance exam, he makes new friends, reunites with some old ones and also makes new enemies. Finally we're introduced to this Alexandria character. She is a loli baba, elf and a magic researcher who along with 3 others defeated demon lord some 500 years ago. She also happens to be MC's Father's porn supplier. She has high opinion of herself and talks in an archaic way, but she also has little to no sense of shame (she goes commando and found MC's nosebleed amusing when she flashed him).
Next we have Sieg Halbalos Ragias (or whatever his name was). He is a son of an important noble and he is a total jerk. However he actually has high magic potential. He is likely MC's future enemy.
MC's new friend is named Erik Hatred and he has beef with Ragias family. He is half-blood dragoon race (a race that has hard skin and is known for taming and raiding dragons). He gets the most spotlight besides the MC in this volume.
MC gets reunited with Edgar who seems to have hots for him now (I smell a harem). Then again, in volume 1 she was calculating how old will he be when they see each other again, so...
MC runs into a girl name Mirei Halbalos Sharking. She wants to duel MC because her mother lost a duel to his aunt. Because MC wasn't interested, she promised to politically support his family if he wins, but somehow it started giving the vibe of her becoming MC's wife if he wins (she believes she would win though). Possibly another harem member, though in volume 2 she does very little.
Isabelle shows up too, but she gets very little screen time. She still seems to have hots for MC, but it feels a little weird with them having little to no interaction. At the end of the volume she spoon feeds MC, but then keeps the spoon for whatever use...
The maid is only in the first chapters of volume 2 and she parts with MC. Seeing that she avoided all contact with Alexandria and going by some of the stuff that she said, she might be actually a shard of the demon lord, though this is just my guess.
There is a small conflict in volume 2, but it's nothing to write home about. Basically, Erik wants to take revange on the Ragias family and MC fights to prevent it, because he doesn't want Erik to get killed. After the two beat each other senseless and become true friends in the shounen fashion, they get attacked by an assasin sent by Sieg. They're about to lose, but MC uses power that Alexandria lent him (he didn't know he actually still had it). BTW kissing was involved with transferring magic power...
It looks like volume 3 will include actual confrontation with Sieg. I think volume 3 also (re)introduces a new girl (I think it's the one who judged MC's duel in volume 1).
Edit: Started reading volume 3 and the first chapter actually turned out to be interesting:
Spoiler:
MC's future enemy is actually named Sieg and not Jeek (I wouldn't have guessed it from the katakana, but that is to be expected). So this dude is not just some jerk, he is a psychopath. The first chapter of the new volume features Sieg talking with his father and is done from the father's perspective.

Finished reading volume 3 and I must say this was the best one so far:
Spoiler:
Volume 3 takes place 2 months after volume 2. Alexandria was disappointed with MC's performance in second volume's climax (when he run out of mana), so she decided to give him martial arts training Spartan style and that's what MC does every morning.
It was mentioned in volume 2, but it was easy to forget (because it wasn't utilized), but Edgar became a teacher in the magical university. She mainly does combat practice lessons where she usually pits MC against herself so she gets an opportunity to molest him...
In fact MC said something like: "When I train with Edgar I fear for my chastity, but when I train with Alex I fear for my life."
MC also got to practice martial arts with Isabel, but I'm afraid it was one time event (and a good excuse for Isabel to grope MC to her heart content).
There are two main things going in this volume. One is the duel with Mirei and the second is a rebellion.
It turns out Mirei started stalking MC and kept asking him to have that duel with her. Eventually MC agreed to have a practice battle with her instead. If he wins, she'll stop bothering him. Their duel is proceeded by the worse chapter in the whole novel. A teacher who brown noses high nobles and bullies everyone else has a practice battle with MC (Edgar couldn't come for some reason and it was her lesson). This teacher tries to kill MC (at the start he might have just tried to maim him), but MC surb-stomps him into oblivion.
He has his duel with Mirei next, but he wins it with ease too. Except to save the girls face he gives up at the very end. The girl caches on and gives up too, so it's supposed to be a draw. Afterwards the girl convinces her mother to forget the past shame, because she is not going to have anymore duels with the MC. If this was a VN, MC would have triggered a flag here, except Mirei isn't that important of a character and even if she has a crush on him now, they might not meet again in a long time (or ever). Also somewhere before the fight, Isable mentioned that if Mirei hurts MC, she might hurt Mirei really bad...
The rebellion was a plot by Sieg's father. He planned to overthrow the king using his magical tanks and by collaborating with Empire (Kingdom's worse enemy). Sieg murders his father and puts the plan in action one day too soon (when opposition is expected to be stronger) hoping to see some carnage. Sieg's father taught him that you need to stomp the small fries when you aim high, but Sieg is a psycho and puts it in reverse order. He aims high only to have an excuse to bully the weak. Anyway MC and friends manage to stop the rebellion. MC's motivation for this was twofold. First he (and Erick) wanted to whoop Sieg's a**. Second, Sieg kidnapped Mirei and Mirei's mother begged MC to save her. During the fight with Sieg, Erick supposedly manages to kill Sieg's dwarven bodyguard, but Sieg pulls out a magical tank. Miraculously MC and Erick mange to defeat the tank anyway and beat the s*** out of him. Nonetheless Sieg manages to escape thanks to pure luck and empire magicians and their teleportation magic.
The empire didn't want to keep lose ends so they hired an assassin to kill the soldiers who took part in the attack on the capital. This assassin envisioned a slow and painful death for Sieg involving endlessly drowning in hot mud(?). However from the way the author killed off Sieg and his bodyguard, this might not be the last we see of them. The assassin is a dwarven woman and from her monologues I suspect she might become a future enemy.
After the rebellion was extinguished, MC gets an audience with the king (remember kids, taking a self-important elven loli-baba to an audience with a king is probably a bad idea). As a thanks the King gives MC the magical spoon and MC decides to drop out of school, since he already got the item he came to the capital for. Besides the university is to be closed for half a year because of the damage sustained during the rebellion. MC's next aim is getting the elven medicine, so he parts with everybody but Isable and Alexandria who decided to tag along anyway and there is some hostility between the two (Isabele is being jelly, plus elves generally don't like Alexandria).
When MC was parting with Erick, Erick mentioned wanting to pursue his own goals (reading books to improve his unique magic) in the empire. So Erick plans to drop out of school too.
This WN is tagged with romance, but not with harem, however:
Spoiler:
It seems to be moving towards harem, while at the same time lacking in developed romance. The heroines so far were:
Walkins the Maid - seems to be very fond of MC, but might as well be his substitute mother (except I don't think mothers threaten their sons with sneaking into their beds and stuff); She doesn't really appear outside of volume 1, but she hugs him quite a few times in that volume.
Isabel the Elf - she is the most clear cut romantic interest the MC has; while the amount of interaction MC has with her is not enough, there is little doubt how she feels about him
Edgar the Shopkeeper - at first her relationship with MC feels ambiguous, I mean sure she says some lewd things to him, but you are never certain if she is being serious, drunk or just teasing. However she can also occasionally be more subtle and this is probably when she is the most serious. By the end of volume 3 you can't shake of the feeling that she is serious about him (like she told some friend that she has someone she likes). She might also be bisexual. At one point (she was joking about having hots for Alexandria) she said: "If a person is cute, it doesn't matter if it's a she or he. But then again, I only like one guy...". Her crush on Walkins is probably very real though. Edgar seems to be the most developed female character in the series (and second most likely love interest after Isabel), but MC doesn't want to have a romantic relationship with her it seems. She is attractive, but has annoying personality and is a heavy drinker (MC worries that hanging out with weirdos is his past life karma for being one).
Alexandria the Exhibitionist - It doesn't feel like she has any special feeling for MC (which didn't prevent her from getting in ecchi situations with MC a few times), until there is a chapter from her POV; I'm still not sure if she is a love interest or not, but MC seems to be the person with the most influence over her and that surly means something
Mirei the Noble - after the events of volume 3 she might actually have a crush on him; when she came to thank MC for saving her cute butt (which was actually mainly done by Isabel), MC teases her a little...
Edit: Volume 5 cover:

Could it be the maid will be back?

Alexandria is the one on the left on the 5th cover. She is also on the 2nd and 4th cover. As for why the elves hate her:
Spoiler:
Some 500 years earlier she damaged an elven temple with a kick. Ever since then she's been banished. Additionally elves don't like humans and she has been mostly hanging out with humans all this time. And last but not least, her personality sucks, so this is probably another thing that gave her bad reputation.
Finished reading volume 4 and I must say not a lot happens in it.
Spoiler:
MC, Isabele and Alex go to the elven forest. The two ladies keep arguing and they seem to be fighting over MC. However Alex enjoys messing with people, so going after MC just to piss the Isabele wouldn't be beyond her...
After some not very exiting adventures the 3 reach the elven forest. Elves are xenophobic, but they like Alexandria even less than humans. They try to fight her, but they have no chance at all. Here and there we learn a few things about Alexandria's past and one of them is that she comes every 50 years or so the the elven forest to visit her parent's grave.
MC asked the elven elder about the medicine which he wants so badly for his mother and the elder said he would like to give him some, since he is friends with his granddaughter Isabele, but the elven forest is facing 2 threats and he would be much eager to hand the medicine if those threats were gone. Threat number one were dragons that started a nest somewhere on the sacred mountain where the elven forest is placed. The other one was empire soldiers snooping around the mountain and picking special grass that is part of the medicine. The soldiers are no direct threat as only elves and selected few can go past the protective barrier surrounding the elven forest, but they make producing the medicine difficult and who knows what they're up to.
The be among the non-elves who can go through the barrier one needs to have elven bodily fluids inside his\hers body and not just any fluids, but ones from the time when the elf was aroused. Well ok, it can be any bodily fluids but the donor needs to be horny at the time, so when elves hear of non-elf having those in the body they think of sex (and this leads to a misunderstanding with the elder). This all means that Isabele was turned on by MC when he was 7... then again, the author was dropping hints that Isabele is some sort of closet pervert for a while.
Anyway Alexandria agreed to help (actually the elder was against it) get rid of the dragons and the plan is to be put in action 2 days later.
Meanwhile MC tries to find out more about Alexandrias past, talks with the elder, gets sexually attacked by Alex (though her goal was marking him in similar fashion to what Isabele did and all she did in the end was bite his neck or something along the lines), kick a talking rock and participate in the most pointless ofuro scene in the history that even spans 3 freaking chapters (if not more).
I probably should mention Cecile, another of elder's grand daughters. She is a loli in body and soul. She takes a liking to MC and due to some ugly quarrel decides to go kill the dragon herself. MC rushes to save her and kills a dragon, but 4 more show up. Thankfully Isabele and Alex catch up with him and help him with the rest (MC kills another, Isabele kills one and Alex kills 2 using same spell Isabele is fond of just to show how much better she is). This is followed by not a whole lot more and the volume ends. I'm expecting to see the fight with empire soldiers in the next one.
What else to say, this volume has much more Isabele than any of the previous ones, but Alex is stealing most of the spotlight. We learn about the various curses that were put on her for having go against a god (or in her case a demon lord). One of them is the fact that she can't use water magic (previously her strongest element). Another very likely curse is immortality (or at least the inability to die of old age, because there are probably some ways to kill her). At one point in the volume she sufferer a mental breakdown and MC hugs her back into her senses, but she doesn't remember any of that. There was also the part where she attacked MC (afterwards there was one really pissed off Isabele and the 2 ladies wrecked a house fighting). At the end of the volume MC has a talk with her and it turns out the seal on the demon lord might break soon (like within the next few years) and that Alex plans to plans to pour all her magic into sealing demon lord again, a task that is surly going to kill her. At this point MC makes a confession of sorts. It's not quite a love confession (although, it gives a bit of that vibe), but it's more of a promise to protect her. MC thinks of silly ideas like letting the seal break and defeat the demon lord to lift the curses put on Alex. The girl thinks it's cute, but she has no intention of giving up on doing things her own way.
I guess the talking rock was an interesting part. All hints suggest that it was the doing of the dwarven woman from the previous volume. She threatens MC that she will hurt someone and her description of the person sounds like Walkins the Maid. However she becomes frightened when MC mentions Alexandria and even calls her Alex (indicating some close relationship). Giving that the dwarven woman was supposed to sport white hair like Walkins, my guess would be, she is another shard of the demon lord.
I'm currently reading volume 5. The start was weak, but it got more interesting further on.
Spoiler:
The imperial forces that were doing something next to the elven forest turned out to be the dwarven woman's doing. Previously I though that the dwarven woman was a shard of the demon lord, but it turns out she is either one of the four sages (like Alexandria)or a shard of one of them. I would guess that means Walkins has some connection to the four sages rather than to the demon lord.
Volume 5 had a romantic scene of sorts. MC tells Alex he likes her (I'm not sure if it was like as in "like" or like as in "love") and she gives him a lap pillow (as he was falling asleep she even kissed him on the forehead if I'm not mistaken).

Oxygen was first discovered in 1783. How could people breathe back then?
Since I started commuting on a scooter to work I read much less (busses are good for reading) and I'm still stuck in volume 5, but the novel managed to get both interesting and lame at the same time.
Spoiler:
We learn the backstory of the dwarven woman. She is Shanrize (or whatever her name translates to) and she is one of the 4 sages\heroes who defeated the demon lord 500 years earlier. Like Alex this left her with several curses and one of those makes her funny in the head. Her backstory involved loosing her parents and then her imouto. She found out that demon lord was somehow connected to the death of her imouto and it motivated her to join the crusade. That's why her curse ended up being, seeing all girls and women up to certain age as her imotou. Her personality also took a huge turn for the worse and she ended up being quite a scum.
It turns out the empire didn't pay her for her services in volume 3 and even send soldiers to kill her (which obviously failed). That's why she decided to mess with the elves (and apparently also dwarfs) pretending to be the empire. This is the interesting part as it goes well with her personality. The lame part is, that she plans to kidnap an elven girl to treat as her imouto (because elves mature slowly, so she'll look like her imouto for quite a while). Why is this lame? She lived for more than 500 years and only came up with the idea now when MC is in the elven forest? I bet Cecil will play a part in all of this as she seems to be the only elf of the right age. I'm not sure why she bothered talking to MC in volume 4 though. I guessed that was because of MC's connection to Walkins, but my guesses about her and the connection seem to be wrong. I'll need to reread that conversation one more time I guess.
With the stuff happening in volume 5 I have a new theory about the maid. She is very likely the 3rd remaining sage. She also might (or might not) have amnesia as one of her curses.
On a number of occasions Alex was about to find out about Walkins, but each time something got in the way, so I assume it's going to be a big deal once she actually finds out.
I'm still waiting for my physical copy of volume 5 and I wonder if the content is the same as WN. The cover of volume 5 has Walkins, but she is nowhere in sight in the WN. It would be great if she showed up. IMHO she was the best girl so far and she only appeared in volume 1. Heck even some more Edgar would be great. Alex is rather annoying and Isabele is bland (her only defining quality is her crush on MC and that doesn't see any development at all).
I have one more prediction (that will probably turn false)
Spoiler:
Since the world in this WN is about to face the demon lord once more some time soon, I guess it needs a new 4 sages. Maybe MC, Isabele, Edgar and Erick can do the job? Alex and Walkins could probably train them.

is the demon lord that will be waking up the same one as the previous one?

Oxygen was first discovered in 1783. How could people breathe back then?
At the end of the fight the sages sealed the demon lord, so it will most likely be the same one that will awaken. Alex talked about sacrificing herself to renew the seal when the time comes, but the MC didn't take this too well and told her to rely on him more (one of her motivations for this was the fact that she took a liking to the MC). All in all she wasn't even sure if she has enough mana to do this and running completely out of mana will kill her.
Shanrize has unnecessarily sexy outfit and doesn't even look like a dwarf. Walkins will only show up towards the end of the volume and the fight between Alex and Walkins will likely happen in volume 6 (volume 5 ends with a cliffhanger). The only image featuring Walkins and Alex together makes it look like they are about to fight. Suddenly I feel motivated to continue reading, since the maid's true nature should be revealed soon.
I haven't made a lot of progress reading:
Spoiler:
I only reached the part where Alex and Shanrize started fighting and MC feels useless, because the dwarven chick is way out of his league (in fact she might be slightly stronger than Alex). Alex wanted to face the dwarf alone, but MC insisted to tag along and where he goes Isabele follows. The 2 of them nearly get killed from Shanrize's first attack and it is Alex who has to save them, by throwing them far far away.
ouch ... that's called being a hindrance ... but I think MC was there for moral support for Alex instead of being an additional firepower . . .
in regards to the first spoiler.... was it ever mentioned what kind of relationship those two had/have? or was it mentioned before and I missed it entirely?

Oxygen was first discovered in 1783. How could people breathe back then?
Since Alex has a curse that saps her mana when she walks and floating magic uses mana too, MC piggybacked her to have her in prime condition for the fight with Shanrize. Besides that, MC and Isabele defeated some golems that the dwarf created to help Alex save her mana for the main event. But I think the chapter in which all this happened was called "being a hindrance" or "getting in the way".
As for Alex and Shanrize relationship:
Spoiler:
They seem to mutually dislike each other. They were allies against the demon lord, but I'm not sure if they got along or not at that time. It seems that their relationship turned sour after the demon lord was defeated. I wonder if Shanrize's curse actually works against Alex. I mean, she might (or might not) look like her imotou too.
Another curse that the dwarf has is losing her battle axe abilities, however she still retained her earth magic. Alex wasn't as fortunate and one of her curses makes her unable to use her strongest attribute, water magic.
I read a few pages further and something interesting has happened:
Spoiler:
Looks like Isabele finally confessed to MC. Well, she didn't say the magic words, but she did say that he makes her heart go doki doki and all that while brushing his hair affectionately (or something along the lines). It might be not the most direct love confession, but it totally looks like a love confession to me. Maybe she felt motivated since MC decided to return and help Alex alone and that sounds like suicide.
Spoiler 2: that Demon Lord really hates their guts for putting those curses ... he casted those, right?
Spoiler 3: well, considering that the one she likes is about to do that, might as well get it out of her chest and not regret it later on if he doesnt come back...

I keep writing demon lord, but the kanji used is for evil god. The heroes were cursed for attacking a god.
As for the fight with the dwarf
Spoiler:
The fight went for a while (or maybe it took me forever to read). At first it's Shanrize vs Alex. They were actually fairly well matched and neither had the advantage, but at one point Alex dropped the coin she got from MC, tried to pick it up and got hit.
This knocked her out and MC had to jump in to save the day, except none of his attacks seemed to do much good. The dwarf hinted that MC's Meteor Breaker punch could possibly hurt her, but she did't let him use it. Instead MC took a beating. This awakened Alex who went berserk and pounded on the dwarf hard. However MC noticed that Alex was doing nearly as much damage to herself with every attack, so he hugged her till she calmed down. Unfortunately for MC, the dwarf was still alive and kicking and he only managed to escape thanks to Isabele and other elves.
After carrying Alex to safety he noticed that she is mostly dead, but thanks to the dragon spoon, he was able to save her life.
Then he went and dealt the finishing blow (or actually two) to the dwarf. This was still not enough to take her out, but she decided to quit at this point. She even promised to not attack the elven forest as long as MC is alive. She swore some magical oath so she will rather keep her word. But this also means she will try to kill MC again in not so distant future.
It was hinted that Alex wanted to be friends with the dwarf in the past, but Shanrize seems to have hated Alex even then.
P.S. I'll post summary of the aftermath later.
P.S.2 I'm way too tired right now to spellcheck what I wrote above, so there are likely errors at large.

After the battle with the dwarf, MC collapsed from the wounds. He woke up some time later and the first thing that he though of was "Is Alex ok". Turns out, she was fine and was resting the very same bed as MC. MC gave her a hug. She actually thanked him properly for saving her and told to close his eyes. MC kind of hoped she'd give him a kiss, but she proceeded to chastise him for saving her. The thing is, he almost broke the dragon spoon when he tried to cure her. Only when disappointed MC closed his eyes again, Alex stole his lips. Turns out it was Alex's first kiss...
And this is where MC realized that Isabelle is in the room the whole time. MC expected bloodbath to happen, but actually got hugged by Isabelle. After the girl was done with that, she still started fighting with Alex.
The elves made a party and gave MC some of their special medicine. When MC was leaving with Alex (Isabelle had to stay for now), the Elder even officially forgave Alex, but that didn't last long as Alex played a prank on all the elves during the party and now everyone (except for MC and Alex) was about pee themselves. So, they don't want to see her ever again... again.
When MC returned home, he ran into the maid who was really happy to see him (why couldn't this novel have more of the maid, she is by far the best character?). MC went right away to cure his mum and was shocked to find that she haven't aged at all while she was sick. She still looks 15. MC applied the medicine (with a little help from the maid), his mum woke up, he said "Nice to meet you mother" and with that the volume ends.
