Okay, I've slept off whatever I had yesterday and finished my usual process. You know the drill. The review is here and the changes in adaptation are below:

This episode starts at Volume 6, Chapter 1, and goes through Chapter 2 to about 80%:

1. The location where GS is scouting in the opening for the Training Camp is where his old village used to be, ten years after it had been burned to the ground and everyone killed. He ultimately brushes it aside with it being noted that there were only three people who knew that he lived there, and he never thought to ask the two on his farm about it.
2. The plan for the training camp was nominally in response to the Goblin Lord, but it had taken about a year to set it up and the reason it moved so quickly afterward was because of Noble Fencer (it had been a few months since that quest) has started a fund to support new adventurers. She also writes to the party, specifically Priestess and High Elf Archer.
3. They also reference the Festival that takes place during Volume 3, but that got skipped for the moment. Maybe we'll go back to it, but probably not.
4. It was actually Guild Girl who asked GS to check the quests over since he was more experienced with them. That being said, he knew what she meant even before she asked him for the favor and she hoped that the training camp would make it so she didn't have to ask him and increase their life expectancy.
5. GS organized the quests, about ten in total so that the ones with abducted women were at the top and the ones with Adventurers already being dispatched were at the bottom. Only slight damages were in the middle.
6. The looks of shock when he bought eighteen potions total: Healing, Antidote, and Stamina, were partly because it was a lot more than needed and some openly laughed. But it's also noted that most of the newbies could barely afford one if they pooled their money together, so buying one for every member of his party and extras earned some sour eyes.
7. He knotted the potions by what they were: one for Healing, two for Antidotes, and three for Stamina.
8. When GS asked "Well?" he was asking if the others were coming along. He'd take all ten quests on by himself if need be.
9. They cut as the group is raiding a Goblin Nest, where the little green horrors are using poison arrows again and their numbers are more than expected. The group agrees that it was a good thing they took the quest instead of a bunch of newbies, because not only did they have to rescue a young woman who was a fisherman's daughter. They use the Breath Rings and then flood the cave by opening a Gate Scroll, using Tunnel to create an opening they can shoot out of in a Water Spout before Dwarf Shaman uses Falling Control to soften the landing.
10. When asked how GS managed to do that before he met the party, he explains he would secure himself to the ground and then walk underwater while using the Breath Ring. The rest of the Goblins were flooded out of the mouth and they proceeded to execute the survivors.
11. When he leaves the party to file paperwork with the Guild, GS muses on how a year ago he never thought he could call others companions and how without them his options would be far more restricted.
12. The amount of gold that GS earned for ten quests, split between the entirety of his party, was equal to the full reward of two Goblin Slaying quests. That was still twice as much money as the members of any one frontier village had managed to save up to ask for help, so it goes to show it was still worth it.
13. With Uncle, his thoughts are given more clarity in the LN. The Guild was established because it protected public order by keeping Adventurers in check and giving them credibility, but novices and those at the bottom of the rankings have none of that. Moreover, he has to look out for Farm Girl and the kid is hotblooded, so it wasn't worth the risk.
14. GS vouching to stay awake considering everything he's gone through, and Uncle knows, decides to bend since he doesn't want them to suffer from a lack of sleep. GS also explained he wasn't sleeping with one eye open out of suspicion, but because he lives away from the main house and needed to be able to respond in an instant.
15. Despite Wizard Boy being a dick, he does acknowledge in his head that Goblin Slayer sticking up with him was something he didn't understand considering he did know the points Uncle made. Before the guild was established, he even heard that adventurers were often murdered when they came into town. He thinks that despite GS's appearance he might be nice, but doesn't want to drop his guard and keeps a knife tucked under his clothes.
16. He later wakes up in the morning to the sound of GS practicing throwing every weapon he could at a target, with him questioning how GS can fight if he throws his weapon as a warrior. The conversation leads to you understanding he's working from textbook knowledge rather than practical experience.
17. Despite thinking to himself if the food was bad he would knock the table over, he still ended up asking for three extra helpings.
18. Priestess actually had a letter of recommendation that she be promoted. But again, they think she hasn't contributed enough because it wasn't unheard of for more experienced party members to piggyback lower-ranked ones.
19. Wizard Boy was a lot more condescending than he came off in the anime. The fact that Priestess backed down due to her own insecurities about what she could do left him feeling victorious until Lizard Priest pointed out that he just pissed off every other cleric and nearly every other party who had one. Because normally to get cured you had to pay alms to a temple and when they're saving you in the battle field you learn to appreciate it.

dropped. This is one of my least favorite chapters in the manga, and combined with the new "looks" of the characters with bad animation. It's not really worth watching.

I've never been a big fan of the whole guild interaction so I kinda liked that Goblin Slayer was interested in helping the glasses kid

Honestly, I think that the Veterans were giving him a lot of leeway all things considered because he was a newbie. A lot of them start out cocky, but they'd learn if they lived.

For me the wait lasted three and a half years since I watched the film Goblin Slayer: Goblin's Crown back on February 2020.

To the newbies if they haven't watched Goblin's Crown and just the first season they may get a little confused as to whom the party mentioned as Noble Fencer as well as the timeline.
Priestess said over a year has elapsed and was looking forward to get her rank promoted.

Meanwhile, we get introduced to this Wizard Boy hell bent to kill goblins so he waited for Goblin Slayer and asked him to teach him the how to, however, Goblin Slayer refused, and I do understand his refusal.

Big mistake to underestimate goblins as many rookie adventurers do when they deem the critters the weakest amongst monster species. Nevertheless, the flashbacks from Priestess first and failed adventurering party proved that goblins can be cunning and treacherous, and them ganging-up on you becomes a nighmare of never-ending torture and relentless brutality.

Hence, Goblin Slayer doesn't want to add another fresh rookie right into the slaughterhouse, so he recommends the Wizard Boy to go first hone his skills and basics doing menial, rat killing quests.

Since Goblin Slayer didn't want the newbie to write notes so if he dies and the goblin gets his notes, they know the strategies used against them.

Goblin Paladin had an intelligence bump due to the boon he got from a God of Wisdom.

Because it amuses them.

The God of Wisdom doesn't care who it gives its blessings to or for what reason, which is why people are wary of worshippers of it. It just wants to see what they'll do with it. So you ask for a boon via proper means or catch its interests and it will tell you how to do it, even if you don't know why it works and even if it will cause chaos.

And considering the sheer number of Goblin Shamans who can cast magic, if they ain't clerics that means they learn via words of power in their tongue. That's even more horrifying because that means they didn't need a handout.

The Paladin at least shouldn't have needed the god to begin with, as E5 Paladins get powers from their oath.

Could it be that people at the guild have no idea what they are doing? The cleric gets pulled along... uhm duh?
Not sure that guild actually knows how healers work, until they want to imply that that particular group doesn't need healing at all?
Especially considering the costs of potions, even just healing after combat should at least earn her the right to promotions up to silver...

Your rank isn't about usefulness to a team, it's about your resourcefulness, skill, cunning, etc. That's why Goblin Slayer, a loner who doesn't fight dragons or the like, is Silver rank.

You don't get to coast on your class. Especially not when there's a better healer in the group with Lizard Priest, to the point where they rarely use Priestess for healing when he's around. She's support, but she needs to demonstrate the capacity to act on her own without the Silver Ranks holding her hands.

If anything, her promotion to Obsidian was faster than normal. Poop Patrol are still Porcelain ranked and they've been there just as long as Priestess, give or take two weeks.

And you don't even know how Lancer, Guts, Female Knight, and Witch got their first promotion. It was a literal boss fight with them and a bunch of other rookies against a giant monster backed by hordes of acidic slimes that dropped from the ceiling to dissolve people. GS had to fight twenty-five goblins and defend a village without a single casualty.

Rookies these days have it easy. There was no training camp being built back then. It was get good or die young.

Oh, I hope they adapt Year One someday.

Didn't expect the bratty kid to be the younger brother of the female mage that died last season. Does GS feel guilt for being the one to mercy kill her, or that he didn't make it in time.

This episode starts partway through Volume 6, Chapter 2, and goes through Chapter 3:

1. Part of the reason that they took Wizard Boy on was because the veterans believed he needed more experience and he might have some potential that just needs polishing.
   
2. The reason that the party before them died was really bad luck combined with a bad decision. They had their gear, had some experience despite being novices, and even kept their formation up. Truth, one of the over gods, just wanted to kill a party that day.
   
3. The Warrior Priest was a woman in service to the Goddess Valkyrie. The scout was a Dark Elf who chose to be on the side of good rather than evil. The Acolyte Cleric worshipped the Trade God.
   
4. Even after discovering the Troll, they had the chance to run, but the General acting as their leader felt positive about their chances since they had a means of getting around its regeneration with Fire. He had the front row intercept the Troll and the Cleric to buff them, but ordered the Thief to get ready for a Sneak Attack rather than guard the rear. Goblins immediately killed the General from behind and they got swarmed since they didn't block the door because that would have cut off their escape path.
   
5. The Dark Elf died second. He recognized he was stabbed with a poisoned dagger and went for an Antidote, at which point they swarmed him and tore him to pieces.
   
6. The Lizard Warrior died next, hearing the Acolyte scream and turning his attention back to her since he was in love with her. He got his brains crushed by the Troll, only able to lament it wouldn't eat his heart as is tradition for powerful warriors.
   
7. The Warrior Priest died last, shoving Acolyte out of the way so she didn't get killed as she rushed over to Lizard Warrior and took the club in her place, resulting in her getting splattered.
   
8. The Goblins proceeded to have the Troll break Acolyte's leg after she wet herself, intent on taking her prisoner for obvious reasons.
   
9. One of the prostitutes at the building camp was an Elf dressed in very revealing clothing, much to High Elf Archer's horror. Priestess was just glad that GS wasn't paying attention to the woman, for obvious reasons.
   
10. The Dwarf leading the construction was an important member of the Carpenter's Guild. It was during this discussion that GS made it clear Priestess was leading, but if there was an emergency he was taking over.
    
11. Priestess ruminates after hearing him mention his past she didn't know much about him, despite them being together for a year.
    
12. Priestess also asks if the Dwarf had any potions he could spare, and that they would pay for them. They had prepared ahead of time, but she wanted extras just in case.
    
13. To elaborate more on roles, GS and Lizard Priest serve as the front-row of the group and so they need to be able to work out a strategy ahead of time. Normally, Priestess handles making sure they have all their equipment and the logistics as the back-row.
    
14. For her formation had GS and High Elf Archer in the front, with Lizard Priest and Dwarf Shaman in the back. If they were attacked from the front, Lizard Priest and High Elf Archer could switch places easily. If they were attacked from behind, GS and Dwarf Shaman could do the same. She refused to put herself or Wizard Boy in the back row since they would get targeted too easily.
    
15. The pouches the girls had were perfume pouches, meant to cover their scent. They only had two, while the others had old clothes that already had the scent, which is why the boy had to be covered in goblin blood.
    
16. What fell out of that trap were the remains of Warrior Priest, her hand and arm so thoroughly minced they looked like they had been put through a meat grinder. The shock factor was meant to get any adventurer who came across it to scream, which acted as an alert for the Goblins.
    
17. They then tortured the Acolyte in order to draw them into the room. Specifically, they had been using a stone axe to cut off her fingers.
    
18. Wizard Boy only had a single use of his spells per day, and he wasted it on that Fire Bolt on a single goblin. So even though he knew that he could have used it to help deal with the troll, he realized he wasted it and should have listened to the others when they tried to warn him. He figured with his last act while alive, he could warn them not to fall into the trap as well.
    
19. They also grabbed her fingers with the hopes that they could reattach them if everything went well.
    
20. The reason the Troll's body broke was because when someone tried to get rid of a giant rock, they would heat it up very hot and then cool it down quickly. Since Trolls have rock-like bodies or were said to turn into stone in sunlight, he used Saltpeter to absorb the water and heat quicker, making it happen rapidly enough that its body basically started shattering.
    
21. Goblin Slayer shoving someone was so out of the ordinary that Spearman knew something was wrong.

Yeah, kinda unexpected. Obvious in hindsight, once it was mentioned, it was easy to tell. Also surprised to see GS getting emotional to this extent. I always thought he had a "oh well..." philosophy about adventurers getting offed by goblins. Though its possible he always felt that way and just never showed it, I'm guessing he had particular feelings because of 2 reasons; Annoying Boy's older sister, and him doing the killing. Still wouldn't have expected him to ball up in an alley crying his eyes out. It doesn't really feel like GS to me, to be honest.

Yeah, animation is a downgrade for sure, but at least story isn't missing a beat. Annoying Boy is still annoying though, and he isn't going away after this episode like I hoped...
