Story's getting real complicated, and I don't really see the point why. They keep piling on mysteries and characters, which dilutes the importance of the existing characters and mysteries.
I'm starting to lose interest. I now remember that I never watched the second season of Soul Eater. I do like the reveal of Arthur's backstory though.

The pacing is working better in this season compared to previous. They are keeping it on-point and snappy. David Production is animating this series very well and the sound production is exemplary.
Episode 3 raises the stakes. I am looking forward to the action extravaganza expected in Episode 4. Quote:

They really made Inca look even more insane than the manga did. I take it it's the voice acting and animation that makes it so.
I have high hopes for season 2 so far. The pacing has been much better and the scene cuts have been handled in a much more enjoyable way than they did during season 1. It also helps that I'm looking forward to what came next in the manga being animated.

I'll say that girl is a definite wild card. She's got enough good nature inside of her that she could be pulled onto a less crazy path. But she's also got insanity and danger addiction that could be twisted into working for those lunatics if she gets captured. Very much a character that could go either way depending on who gets hold of her or just her own chaotic route.
Season 2 feels much better than S1 in terms of pace and characters. I was struggling at times in S1 to even remain interested, but so far so good here. A very difficult situation though as Charon is a freaking tank. Extremely durable and extremely powerful. Plus...apparently he's the type that needs to hype himself up? The more he and his posse gets chanting the stronger he gets.

Jesus, the more this anime goes on the more it just becomes Soul Eater, but with a lot of fire everywhere, even the characters are just becoming slight copies of the characters from Soul Eater.
Let me guess, at some point we are going to get introduce to either a copy character of Excalibur (yes, I know that one guy looks like him but still) or the actual freaking Excalibur will just be there for no reason other than everyone's torment.

Inka keeps showing her madness and Tamaki continues being a character whose power of "fanservice" continues being completely out of place.
On the other hand David Productions continues flexing their animation like there's no tomorrow. And now that the more avant-garde bits have been toned down this is becoming really enjoyable.

Tamaki tries so darn hard and just ends up...near naked most of the time . Her luck is on some crazy extremes there. I do kind of feel for her in that she wanted to really help out there and just flubbed it.
Inka...wow. Rescue her...and then throw her into an insane asylum. Probably have enough legal justification to lock her up anyways. She may want to thrill seek her way into an early grave. But so long as one side in all this wants to use her to start the apocalypse, that's not really an option.

Episode 5 is out. "I'm going to knock him flat!"
Is it just me or does it feel like Shinra is getting more reckless this season? Plenty of action with this week's new episode though. Special Fire Force Company 8 had a rather interesting plan with Maki playing a prominent role. I also find some of the animated scenes rather stylish this episode, like the one with the Firestorm.

I'm glad Maki got to play an important role. She doesn't get enough love.
I didn't expect Shinra's Corna to actually look like it does in the ED. It was pretty neat. If concealing you're a second gen is the golden rule for them when they're fighting a third gen, why did no one tell Shinra about that? He could have figured out Charon's deal a lot sooner.

The only downside to this one was the preview being particularly full of spoilers for how this is going to wrap up...You'd think at some point I'd learn better than to watch any. The line between creating hype and just showing off the whole episode shouldn't be that fine a line, but it seems a real struggle for studios.
At least Shinra did step up. Figuring out how to really make use of his Corna was good. Not something that is easily brought out considering the timing and emotional state he needs to get himself into, but it's a definite asset. Very good job by the team to wrap things up. Of course Obi...really sucks at shooting. Aiming isn't even a major thing considering the enemy was almost always locked onto anyways. But at least it all worked out in the end. Lot of great work by a lot of characters. Minus Tamaki who...never really did anything in this conflict .
