He choose Kuroko maybe because she is more balanced powerwise. Mikoto is too overpowered and you would need to trick her a lot or nerf her powers like Kamachi did to make Accelerator a protagonist.

But I am more excited for Touma x Misaki too lately xD

Obviously it will become a Boy's Love series and the next arc will revolve around the dramatic trials of love between the main male characters.

This was planned from the beginning.
