Universe is BIG, so big that it actually had forces and powers that are much more powerful than GATE exploding, expanding and acting daily. At worst GATE force can only destroy said planets, but entire universe?

I can see that science was not the original authors strongest side. Aldo he covered quite well Rome history, military stuff and standard Japanese RPG elements. But everything else is just under the question - especially politics and science.

I do hope that author included world powers a lot more, because after GATE close and reopens again I would take action as well to make sure I get my piece of the pie before it closes again.

Note: anime covered books 1 - 3. With the 3'rd book fluff not folly covered. There are still 4 and 5 until main story ends and Gaiden books start.

It's because opening the gate involves far bigger cosmic power than you are imagining.

Hardy explains each universe like a sphere flowing down a river of multiverse.
By "nudging" a universe towards another universe sphere, and creating the gate on the contact point of the two spheres is how they can be connected.
This is why there can only be one gate between two universe at any given time, as you can't have multiple contact point between two spheres.

Since the universes tends to try and move down that "river", forcing a bridge between the two for extended time causes both side to become unstable. Imagine them shaking violently and starting to crumble.

GATE itself is of small proportions, big enough for F-4 Phantom to get trough it and that's it.

Universe is huge, it's so huge it is beyond our understanding. And it is so huge that you have enough space between our planet and our moon to fit all 9 planets of our solar system and still have space to save. And that's our universe alone, add another one similar and you have 2x that energy.

So I have really hard time imagining how something that small can crumble something that big. A much more sensible explanation would be how universe can sustain the gate only so long and after some time it alone collapses the GATE without any effect on itself. Because it is so huge there would not be any effects at all. It would be like a single cell dying in your body - you would not die with it.

Please note that I am looking at this from scientific pow, because show itself have that side ( our Earth ). Scientifically, once the GATE is formed it really should not have any effect on the universe itself giving it's size. And giving GATE's small size and how much energy universe uses per day ( HUEG number, impossible to count ) there should be no problem for GATE itself to be permanently open without any effects on both universes. Maybe it would have on the planet because of gravity ( only force I can think of that would have any effect since GATE sounds like a wormhole after all ) and in rare case collapse of the GATE causing formation of a black hole.

But other than that... GATE should be perfectly fine to use. I do not understand why so much complication over simple matter? Was this shorter and more simplified way to explain things and limit the use of the GATE so that Japan woudl not be OP as it is?

I woudl really like to know author and have a chat with him about this.

But yeah, this is fantasy/sci-fi anime after all and I am again thinking too much.
With this "parallel universe" thing I have issues but the rest of the show is glorious.

The size of the gate is irrelevant, the dimensions of a contact point of two spheres is entirely dependent on how perfect the spheres are.

When you strike an eight-ball with a cue ball, the actual contact surface is tiny, but the entire inertia and kinetic energy is successfully transferred to the other ball.

signed contract and done deal. for French it was listed in wiki as coming on 05/27/16 from Ototo, there is no Italian wiki update, so maybe our European members here can look up the publisher and date information on that?

I think a better way the arthor could of explain why the Gate can't be open for long period of time, would be the forces of the two different Universe are pulling each other together do to the Gate connecting between the universes which would lead to the two universe collapsing into each other which would lead to creativing a new Big Bang and new universe which there are some theory in real life, that our universe was creative from event like that.

We must go back to earlier time to explain why Itami & co must head to investigate Knuppnai with the scientists.
Way back when Itami and & was running away from the assassin sent to kill Lelei in book 3.
Arpeggio, Shandy, and Gray are with them along the ride.

During one of the times Itami used the stick to decide which direction to drive the vehicle, Rory notices a strange wind when the stick fell.
It pointed towards the Temple of Bernago, where Hardy is worshiped.
She doesn't like this result and ask Itami to redo it.
But no matter how many times they try, the stick always points to the temple, sometimes even using very suspiciously strong burst of wind.
It was clear that there was a divine hand at play, and since they had an official invitation letter to the temple anyways, they reluctantly head to the temple.


Hardy is the ruler of Afterlife. There are other afterlife realms other than Hardy's.
For example those who die in battle or deemed a worth warrior will be sent to Emroy's realm upon death.
However, these examples are minority, and vast majority of souls go to Hardy's realm.
And since her realm houses most people's ancestry, the temple is always ripe with worshipers and pilgrimage.

The temple was a massive upside-down pyramid, buried in the ground.
As they reach the bottom of the pyramid, priestesses of Hardy, clad in white gothic lolita outfits, guide the group further into the underworld.
From there on is the entrance of Afterlife. With Itami as the lead and frightened Rory hiding in his back, the group make their way down to reach a huge shrine.
Once there, particles of light forms a shape of a human woman. Itami at first suspects since gods can take form of any shape they wish, the beautiful woman is not the true form of Hardy.
Hardy, pouting and teary in her eyes attempts to have Rory explain to Itami that her shape is not fake, and she really is a pretty girl.
Having no physical form, the goddess cannot communicate with mortals without using a proxy such as a demigod or a chosen priest.

Many priestess of Hardy desperately tries to appeal themselves to be a vassal for Hardy.
Housing a god is a suicide for normal mortals, as most souls are not strong enough to survive the experience.
But those who do are elevated to a revered status in the religion, and even achieve deitihood in some rare cases.
Hardy looks around, and shows a gleeful smile as she spots Lelei. Before anyone can stop her, Hardy walks to Lelei and merges into her, much to shock of everyone present.
Once she has control of Lelei's body, who has now grown her silver hair long instantly, Hardy hugs Itami playfully and seductively as she pulls him along, and walks out of the temple to the nearest restaurant where she orders a massive feast.

As Tuka politely asks Hardy to no go overboard, the goddess gripes about the bordom that comes with eternal existence.
As eternity pass, emotions decrease and everything becomes mundane.
She feels that if she doesn't get to enjoy physical mortal existence once in a while, she'd be reduced to an emotionless being who only exist to perform her role methodically.
She tells Tuka that as a highelf she should understand. That's how many long living elves die - they become bored of life and desensitized to everything.
Hardy promises to return Lelei's body to her, but only after she's had her fun.

She the says she'll give the girl back right now if someone would marry her and share emotions with her.
Hardy demands Rory to be her bride, and merge together in existence to coexist eternally.
Rory rejects her, saying she already has a man. She also tells her that she has no intention to show respect to a god that steals body of someone who's not even his/her worshiper.
Hardy took over Lelei as she was a rare being whose soul was strong enough to house a god.
Rory, frustrated, tells Hardy that both Itami and Lelei are hers, not Hardy's to take.

Hardy isn't too concerned with Rory rejection, as she has an eternity to change her mind.
She then asks Tuka if she's interested to take up the offer instead. She points out that Tuka can swing both ways.
Tuka acknowledges, but says she doesn't find Hardy attractive.

When Hardy asks Yao, she response with a defiant rejection and express she came here to denounce her status as a follower.
In response to her anger, Hardy says she feels no remorse or is in anyway moved by the fate of Yao's tribe.
When asked why, Hardy tells her it's futile to explain, and she has nothing to prove to her.
The dragon eating her tribe is no different than you eating the meat on this table. It is the nature of survival.
And because the dragon fought and died in the nature of survival, Hardy explains, she doesn't harbor any enmity towards them for killing the dragon, who was an important pawn to her. And neither should Yao.

Hardy also explains that as the ruler of afterlife and god of death, all life is hers to take and hers to let live.
She promises a happy afterlife in return, but this only angers Yao further, as she believes one's happiness is decided by one's self, not a god.
Yao draws her sword on Hardy, but Itami stops her. The body belongs to Lelei, after all.
Hardy heals the cut on her neck, and Rory asks her to not toy with mortal lives. The souls of mortals are not a toy or a doll.
Hardy tells Rory that if she wants the girl's body back, why not win it back in a battle, after all that's what the apostle of god of war should do.

Itami defuses the two and asks the goddess to explain to them why she summoned them to the temple in the first place.
Hardy agrees and starts to explain there's somewhere she wants them to go investigate, and it has to do with what the gate is.

EDIT: oh and also, the analogy to comparing contact points of worlds to spheres and therefore explaining why there can't be more than one gate between two worlds wasn't in Hardy's explanation. It may come from scientists or Lelei later on, I just don't remember where I got it from.
