I wholeheartedly agree! t the start of the season, just going by the description, my preconceptions were entirely wrong. This show is outstanding. I think its been a long time since I've seen an actual coming of age combined with adventure anime, not to mention one done this well.

You know that story about the Moon landings been faked? That's real. It's not that they didn't go to the Moon, they did. They simply had to reshoot the landing though in order to have Armstrong say something more dignified and memorable than "IN YOUR FACE!" .

Watched episode 9:
Another good episode. Shirase good at jump rope. Funny when she was a kid, her mom's friend told her not to give money to people she don't know. Oh, and I was a bit worried the ice might break if they all jump on it.

I laughed a lot at a one certain scene.
Actually I didn’t actually watch this series start to finish. It was a coincidence that because i was looking for an anime/manga series that have characters’s views of certain things. In truth, I myself cannot really tell if this scene can give lot of people good examples. Being "bullied" and doesn't really know why. Some people might know what I mean by mentioning this. This episode aired in near end of Feb 2018. This is bad, I mean really bad. I don’t have a good feeling about this. And me laughing a lot at this is a huge mistake. |

That wasn't bad. A bit more focus on Yuzuki is fine. Her big thing has been on that friendship concept so good time to work on it. And hey get a bit more focus on Kimari and how things are going after that emotional farewell she had a few episodes ago.
Still feels weird to think it is colder where I am than where they are.

^True I was honestly shocked they arrived on Antarctica with so little on, I honestly never really considered (okay I never really thought about it too begin with) that it ever rose above freezing there.
And I’ll admit that the penguin scene was cute and the table scene where Shirase kept shoving the explanation onto Hinata was funny, then again Hinata’s my favorite character and I particularly adore her when she interacts with Shirase, those two together are hilarious. |

The pacing of the show still feels off to me, as if they're writing it with a second season in their back pockets - or at least the hope for one. The tag after the credits pretty much told you what next week's episode is going to be (the New Year's communication), and after that there will be only two episodes left. That means either one heck of a fast-forward to get them all home, or they reach some resolution point while they're still in Antarctica.

I don't see a pacing problem. This show is 13 episodes, not 12. 3 episodes is enough to finish the show properly. Remember this is a coming of age story with Shirase's character arc as the core storyline. Kimari had her character development in the first half of the show, Yuzuki got hers this episode and Hinata will get her moment in episode 11 as foreshadowed by the tag after the credits. That will leave us with 2 episodes to finish Shirase's character arc. Plenty of time.
