Look at it again, the fight really is opposite of Gojo vs. Sukuna.
Spoiler for 243:
Next chapter is the end for tankoubon vol. 27 so likely one more exposition before we back to Sukuna vs. Yuji and Higuruma.

Not going to work like that.
Toji already mentioned on Hidden Inventory that killing Curse Spirit Manipulator is dangerous because all CS captured will be uncontrollably released thus he killed Gojo but Geto. So if Rika eat any portion of Geto body, what Yuta obtained will be CSM skill with no CS attached. Merger can keep going if Kenjaku either already secured the CT somehow or made progress to the point he didn't need Mahito and Tengen CT again.

That because Geto have no Curse Spirits on his disposal after Yuta defeated him.
Kenjaku confirmed Geto already spent all of it before he took over. Half to became curse parade in city, half to held his firepower against Yuta; Geto did said that Uzumaki against Yuta is using all CS he brought except one, Tamamo no Mae, for additional firepower only to be obliterated by Rika as well. So by time Gojo found him, it totally safe for Gojo to kill him.

Telling Rika to eat Tengen is faster, assuming Kenjaku haven't done anything to her and/or her corpse that would invalidate such method.

I feel like this chapter will have split reception between Japanese people who know Japanese TV and understand who these celebrities are, and the foreigners who don't and will just remember the ending.
At least with the previous chapter you can still understand the visual gags and absurdity even if you don't understand Japanese. This chapter is mostly a verbal manzai routine where delivery is key, which I feel is just going to be lost in translation until it gets animated and we can hear Takahiro Sakurai ham it up. |

Anticlimax sure is a common issue in this manga. Mahito got "sucked" by Kenjaku, Gojo got killed offscreen, Kamo...., Jogo defeats Maki and Nanami with a single move, Yuta befriends his enemy from the games, Choso gets a flashback that stops him from finishing Yuji, etc.

I personally fine with Mahito finished in anti-climatic way since it fit with recurring theme of Disaster Curse finished in way they didn't get what they expected.
Jogo is strong but he's insecure about his own strength until the very end. To make things worse, he's pitted against Gojo and Sukuna, the top two of series. Hanami wanted to be useful but she always lose before she made significant differences. Dagon wanted their group to be appreciated by sorcerers, defeated by reanimated man with no CE who didn't care about it at all. Mahito always confident, imagine himself as peak evil, predator to benevolent person. He lose to said benevolent person and backstabbed by Kenjaku. In a way you could say Mahito is the one humiliated the worst since you can argue the other three are unlucky to met the top tiers before they could accomplish something; the moment he learned about Black Flash, he have no excuse for his failure. Jogo can defeat Maki and Nanami with single move is not anti-climatic. Jogo is said to have the highest firepower among the quartet so he is indeed capable to one-shot them; the moment Maki, Nanami and Naobito unable to take down Dagon without Toji, their fate is sealed if they ever met Jogo or Mahito afterwards. Besides, it would be weird if Maki and Nanami gave him hard time then we saw him later doing well against 15F Sukuna.

Yuji never needed black flash to attack the soul. Anyway the point of attacking the soul worked only against Mahito because in his case his shape was subjected to his soul manipulation so he could move the soul to avoid being hit. Against any other opponent it's pointless because attacking the body is the same as attacking the soul as they are one.

The reason why Mahito was so dangerous was because any damage he did with Idle Transfiguration couldn't be healed. The same principle can potentially be applied to Yuji's technique. |
