Why are we talking about speedsters in this series? I have read comics and you have no idea just how broken a speedster could be.

I still like the wraith idea. It give Subaru something to worry on the side other than Satella and the Witch of Envy. The wraith is a manifestation of Subaru's emotions from all the resets and something else. The thing would probably scare the hell out of him (FYI he's the only one who can see it). It appears and disappears after certain time. The wraith will continue to haunt Subaru more and more as he can keep using "Return by Death". Basically, Subaru is his own worst enemy. The wraith is kind of like a grim reaper.

Put yourself in Subaru's shoes: You've done this dying and repeating thing for so long you've just about gotten the hang of everything...then you find out that someone has been messing with your timeline. You later find that this isn't a new thing, this guy has been messing up your timeline since the beginning. You don't know who it is, you don't know how he does it, but you KNOW.

There's no threats. There's no clues or letters or any sort of outward bragging from anyone that you think might be the culprit.

Someone out there knows about your ability and is doing their damndest to make sure you fail. Or succeed. You can't tell because the things that change are sometimes beneficial to you and at other times harmful to you. There's no rhyme or reason to it, no logical sense.

Or maybe that's the whole point. He's trying to drive you crazy.

You're forgetting he already has plenty to worry about other than her with the Witch Cult, Pandora, that assassin group that who Elsa and Meili belong to, keeping a certain heterochromia asshole in line and if I'm reading what Tappei implications towards Arc 7 correctly then there is the potential threat of the Vollachia Empire making a move in that arc. His plate is full bruh.

Someone finally got a hold of these! As from general details about the sidestories inside it's got a lot of character and world-building information. A fair number of these are characters are on the wiki (with slightly different spelling of their names) so you can look most of them up if you want a image to go with name.

Spoiler for Short Stories Summaries 1/2:

Felt-chan, Royal Selection life beginning from Zero

Covers from the day after “Felt-chan, the Formation of a Gang” up to Felt leaving the capital for the Astrea domain.

Characters appearing: Felt, Reinhard, Old Man Rom, Grim, Carol, Ton, Chin, Kan

Depicts a scene where a blond, red-eyed man who looks like Felt’s father entrusts a baby to someone who seems to be Old Man Rom. The one who looks like Rom appears to owe a debt to the one who looks like Felt’s father.

This is speculation, but the one who looks like Felt’s father may be different from the older brother, and have the same disposition as Fourier, and may have been entrusting Felt due to fears about the future.

Also has a scene where Carol and Grim meet Old Man Rom before he changes to a giant in the castle fight during the Sword Demon’s Love Ballad, and ask why he’s helping Felt. During the conversation, Rom remembers he’s met them before.

Kararagi Girl · Meets · Cats

After “Anastasia’s Way of the Kararagi Merchant”, in Banan of Kararagi, Anastasia and Ricardo meet Mimi, Hetaro, and Tivey for the first time.

Characters appearing: Anastasia, Ricardo, Mimi, Hetaro, Tivey, Chuden, Razcrew, Didori

Anastasia (supplement): The narrator indicates she’s 11 or 12 years old. An orphan born in an extremely poor town in Kararagi.
Having been raised in an underground room is the reason she uses this name. Previous job was waitress in a bar. Releasing Ricardo’s collar is one of her goals.

Ricardo (supplement): Self-proclaimed dog-man (kobold) demihuman. Also known as “Beast Dog”. Saved Anastasia when it looked like she would become a slave in an extremely poor town, and found her a job. A former slave, he deliberately keeps his slave collar. Has confidence in, and dreams for the future about, Anastasia’s talent, and decides to stand beside to watch her legend grow. Currently working as a bodyguard for the Chuden company.

Mimi (supplement): At this time, she’s half again as tall as Anastasia. Cat person.

Hoshin (supplement): Rumored not to have been blessed with valor, exceptional at conversing, knows how to lead the human heart, was known as a person of rare wisdom. Having won the confidence of the ruler after helping the small country of Kararagi with the bloodless recapture of a fort, he now quietly held the reins of the country’s business. With plotting, friendship, and business talent, he expanded the (always insufficient) circles of friendship with other countries, and in the western portion of the continent, became the head of a national alliance that Vollachia, Lugunica, and Gusteko became aware of when it was too late, and in the end founded the city-state of Kararagi.

Chuden: A merchant chief who hired Anastasia as a (merchant) apprentice when she was working in a bar. Fox-eyed. Around 30.

Razcrew: slave trader

Didori: A rare multi-armed person born in Kararagi. Holds an axe in each of his four arms. Wears a fur he skinned off of a Wolfen he killed. Called the “skin wearer” by Ricardo’s group because of that. Even taller than Ricardo. A user of dark arts that hides in the shadows.

Slavery: Legal in Kararagi. In Banan, it’s illegal to enslave someone whose existence is secured. Conversely, it’s legal to enslave vagrant children who get caught.

Banan: Name of a city in Kararagi. Also the setting of “Natsuki Rem”.

Chuden Group: A medium-sized organization with Banan as it’s base of operations. Mostly sells trade goods. Predecessor of the later Hoshin Group.

Lifaus Group: Chuden Group’s parent corporation.

Razcrew Group: a slave trade company.

Ryokcha: A Kararagi drink.

Wolfen tribe: A demihuman tribe on the verge of extinction. Rumored to be raised to call themselves kobolds instead of wolfen.

Slave collar: Metia. Connected to the owner’s gate by a spell, the owner can cause the wearer pain simply by willing it. In this story, the slave collar was paired with the owner’s bracelet.

Prologue to the Royal Selection, Imperial Diplomatic Bloodshed

After all the royal family fell to sickness, and several months before the royal selection, Miklotov and Bordeaux of the council of wise men head to Lupgana, the capital of the Holy Empire of Vollachia, for negotiations; Reinhard, Julius, and Feris accompany them as security.

Characters appearing: Julius, Reinhard, Feris, Miklotov, Bordeaux, Marcos, Vincent, Cecilus, Balroy, Goz, Groovy, Moglo, Belstets, Gramdart

Vincent Vollachia: 77th emperor of the Holy Empire of Vollachia. Looks around mid-20s in age, dressed plainly, large eyes, pale skin, supple-bodied, black hair, handsome young man. His appearance and the light in his eyes give one an overpowering dreadful feeling. Attained the throne several years ago. Holds no particular feeling towards demihumans. He asserts that the loyalty of subjects is simply a result of being a ruler. Not actually looking for a war with Lugunica at this time. Unusually rational, and thus able to make very quick decisions, is what Miklotov said.

Balroy Temegrif: One of the nine divine generals. Tall, pale, and droopy-eyed, a gentleman with his nearly-black brown hair slicked back. Winged dragon user. His loyal dragon is Kariyon. Using light and wind magic, he generates optical camouflage, and making free use of the winged dragon’s mobility, he specializes in long-range attacks with transparent light bullets. The downside is that he can’t hear his surroundings while camouflaged. He’s not only capable of sniping, but also varying the bullet speed to carry out sweeping attacks from multiple directions at once. The brother-in-law of Miles, who appeared in ex1, he learned how to fight and bond with flying dragons from him. Has vowed revenge on the Master Swordsman for Miles’ death.

Goz Ralfon: One of the nine divine generals. Has a sword scar on his face.

Groovy Gamlet: “Land” (sixth) of the divine generals. Schauzer-man (hyena-man) demihuman. Compact body covered with gray fur, black spots here and there. Belts all over his body, carrying a large number of weapons.

Moglo Hagane: “Handling” (eighth) of the divine generals. One of very few confirmed steel men. With long limbs and a wide torso, his entire body is covered with covered with hard red copper, and he’s a giant that reaches nearly three meters in height.

Cecilus Segmunt: “First” of the divine generals. Age 20. The man who can fight a thousand. According to the text, his true strength lies in his aberrant speed, said to reach the speed of lightning, and he uses sayings that refer to lightning, such as ‘It doesn’t feel like lightning’ and ‘I’ll raise the lightning’. Groovy calls him battle-crazed. With his fifth sword broken by Julius, he fights with his third and fourth swords the size of short swords, against Reinhard, who uses the blade and grip of the fifth sword.

Belstets Fondalfon: Imperial Prime Minister. An old dwarf. (Note: Not sure if dwarf is referring to a short human, or a fantasy dwarf here.) A wise old man rumored to always be ahead of the game. Able to pass through the ability of the light sword.

Gramdart: A minister who tried to steal the imperial throne.

Reinhard (supplement): Feels that a knight should always take a defensive stance, even after being attacked, and they cannot act on vague fears. Has the Blessing of Wind Protection that only ground dragons should have.

Julius (supplement): Balroy notes that based on his strength, he could be the second divine general or higher.

Marcos (supplement): Son of Razack, who participated in the Demihuman War.

Eight-armed Kurgan (supplement): Deceased. Strongest hero of Vollachia’s previous generation, and thought to have been one of the nine divine generals.

Holy Empire of Vollachia (supplement): An older country than Lugunica. Was continually at war until Lugunica’s Farseil formed a treaty with the divine dragon 400 years ago. Skirmishes continued after that. Blessed with fertile land and mild temperatures, the temperature doesn’t vary much through the year. The teaching that “The people of the empire are superior” is spreading. The national flag is a wolf pierced by a sword (it’s eyes are still alive). The general atmosphere is not that fear leads to defeat, but that fear leads to death. A nation that admires those who attempt to take the throne by coup d’etat. Skilled magic stone craftsmen are common. On the other hand, spirit arts users are almost unknown.

Lupgana: Imperial capital.

Crystal Palace: The castle of Emperor Vollachia. Uses magic stone everywhere, so the interior is filled with an excess of mana.

(speculative name) magic stone bracelet: A bracelet that Reinhard was ordered to wear for the visit to Vollachia. Seems to limit the wearer’s abilities.

emperor selection ceremony: The method of selecting Vollachia’s emperor. The emperor marries many wives in all the parts of the country, and has children with them. Those children vie for the throne, and the last survivor becomes emperor. An initiative recommended by the emperor himself as following the ideals of Vollachia, it has the support of the people.

The Guillotine of Magritsa: Classical literature. Situations such as “The old wise man’s conversation with the former king” and “The old king plots against his treacherous servant, to have him kidnapped by his own hired assassins”. At the end of the story, the main character who conspired with the king’s father disappears along with the dew of the guillotine.

Nine Divine Generals: Ranks in the Imperial Vollachian Army.

The ranks rise in this order: soldier -> superior soldier -> third general -> second general -> first general. Those who become generals are not required to wear armor. There are only nine first generals, so they are called the Nine Divine Generals. In Lugunican terms, they would be comparable to the commanders of the various knight orders. The Nine Divine Generals are numbered from one to nine, smaller numbers are higher ranked.

insect cage tribe: A scarce people that are only found in Vollachia. While still young, they begin to care for a single insect inside their bodies, feeding it their odo, fusing their spirits, and sharing their body. As a result of the fusion they are able to embody the insect’s abilities.

light sword: A treasured sword stained crimson from the hilt to the blade. When the owner wishes to wield it, they can draw it from thin air. It breaks what the owner wishes broken, and scorches what the owner wishes burned. Some part of it’s ability resembles Typhon’s authority. Belstets states that it can only be obtained by one who is worthy of Vollachia’s throne, and Vincent states that it’s a joke that tests the owner. The current owner is Vincent. Priscilla owns a sword with the same name and mostly similar ability.

Royal Election Prequel: Reinhard vs Cecilus

The visit of the Holy Vollachian Empire’s Nine Divine Generals after the events of ‘Prologue to the Royal Selection, Imperial Diplomatic Bloodshed’, and the Second Dance of Silver Flowers

Characters appearing: Julius, Ferris, Reinhard, Marcos, Ton, Chin, Kan, Cecilus, Chisha, Gramdart

Gramdart Hostoi: Named as the mastermind of the events of ‘Prologue to the Royal Selection, Imperial Diplomatic Bloodshed’ Survived due to having a body double prepared, and secretly fled to the kingdom. Implicated in selling the imperial secret methods of flying dragon control, and the root cause that Miles and Balroy’s lives were ruined. Also deceived the rebellion. Staying in Lugunica for some sort of negotiation.

Second Dance of Silver Flowers: A phrase used to compare Reinhard and Cecilus’ duel to “The Picktat Dance of Silver Flowers”, a duel that occurred 20 years ago to determine the outcome of a territorial dispute between Lugunica and Vollachia. Incidentally, it hasn’t been stated clearly, but as that was a fight between the strongest at the time in Lugunica and Vollachia, it seems likely “The Picktat Dance of Silver Flowers” was the fight Wilhelm was speaking about in arc 5, between himself as the commander of the knights and Kurgan of the Nine Divine Generals.

Dragon Sword Reid (supplement): Said to have been a gift from the sword gods, and that it refused the witch.

Sword Demon Love Ballad: Their Later Tale

Describes events directly after the book EX2 Sword Demon Love Ballad, as Wilhelm looks for work after being imprisoned.

Characters appearing: Wilhelm, Theresia, Bordeaux, Grimm, Carol, Roswaal (J), Miklotov, Gionis, Orphe

Orphe: A marriage wrecker infamously known as “The Six Tongued”. Was seeing six different women in the noble’s section of town. A long-haired, pale Casanova. Imprisoned in the dungeon beneath the prison tower.

Gionis (supplement): Known as a gentle person. Roughly 40 years old at this time.

Theresia (supplement): Requested amnesty for Wilhelm from the king, for his actions during the Demihuman War. Was given a house in the noble’s section of town immediately after her first battle as the Master Swordsman. This is still kept as a separate residence of the Astrea family.

Miklotov (supplement): Around 30 years old at the end of the Demihuman War, he works as an assistant minister for the kingdom.

Roswaal J. Mathers (supplement): For two years after Wilhelm’s disappearance, regularly reported on the status of the Royal Army members, as well as Theresia, who came to meet (search) for him.

prison tower: Adjacent to the royal castle, a facility that imprisons those who commit serious crimes.

Sword Demon Love Ballad: Wedding Day

Depicts the three days after “Sword Demon’s Love Ballad: The two of them afterwards”, up to Wilhelm and Theresia’s wedding.

Bertol Astrea: Theresia’s father. Red hair. Overprotective. Below average with the sword.

Carran Astrea: Theresia’s older brother. Killed in the Demihuman War.

Conwood Melahau: A veteran of the Tselgef corps. Participated in the Great Conquest and the White Whale Subjugation. Carried the Dragon Sword Reid back after the Great Conquest.

Grimm (supplement): Vice-captain of the Tselgef corps at the time of this story.

Orphe (supplement): At Wilhelm’s recommendation, was released from the prison tower and now serves Bordeaux. Predecessor of an intelligence organization known as “The Six Tongued”.

Fleur: The waystation town where Subaru was left behind by Rem. Grimm’s hometown.

Nest of the Earthsnakes: Nickname of a cave in the side of Mount Cordor, near the town of Cramlin southeast of the capital. According to folklore, the earthsnakes living in Mount Cordor cause earthquakes. (Note: It’s not clear if Earthsnakes should be plural or not.)

earthsnake: An earthworm-like mabeast. Over ten meters long.

Sunlight on the Water(2nd Al story)

After the end of “The Day I stopped being a Trailing Star”,and before the start of the royal selection, killing time in Priscilla’s domain.

Characters appearing: Priscilla, Al, Schult

Priscilla is referred to as The Sun Princess in the story In the character introductions, it’s clearly stated that Al has no memory of his past. (First time in print?) Al’s helmet is a replica of Swordsman King Yukari’s helmet.

wiki summary (note: it's implied that the shadow was satella)

Ladrima: A village in the southwest part of Lugunica, bordering on Vollachia, in the south part of the Barony of Barielle.

Evil spirits: spirits that cause harm to people

Ginunhaib Swordsman Islands: Name of a place in Vollachia. Where Al fled after losing his arm, and where he obtained his helmet.

(Author’s note: In a world with no ocean, perhaps it’s like Oki island in Lake Biwa?)

kurenai: a deep red flower that only blooms in the forest of Ladrima’s spring.

Royal Election Prequel: The Successor of Blue

“The Prologue of the Great Crusch-sama, Studies of the ‘Blue’” showed the beginning, and this story shows the end of Ferris’ month of work as a master healer in the capital. Slightly less than a year after this, EX1’s “Felix Argyle is a Feminine Man” begins.

Characters appearing: Ferris, Crusch, Fourier, Roswaal, Clind, Marcos, Heinkel, Luanna, Carol, Grimm, Garitch

Garitch Fabless: Ferris’ predecessor as the ‘Blue’ master healer. Along with being Ferris’ master, he is called a national treasure. From the onset of Luanna’s illness, he is her main physician. Bordeaux’s main physician as well. Cares for Ferris in spite of the way that Ferris has abilities that exceed his confidence but still underestimates himself, and also teaches him the limits of healing. Stabbed by one of his followers over baseless resentment. Ferris takes over caring for that patient.

Roswaal (extra notes): Comes to Garitch to borrow a healing arts teaching textbook for Rem. Declares himself not suited to healing magic. Seeing Garitch and Ferris’ interaction, briefly recalls himself and his own teacher. Advises Ferris to study in a way that will leave him with no regrets. Garitch thinks of him as a decent noble who judges people based on what’s inside them. It’s only been six or seven years since Ram and Rem started working at the mansion, so it seems he ordered the book before he met them.

Clind (extra notes): Notices Ferris’ gender immediately.

Heinkel (extra notes): Verbally abuses Garitch for being unable to heal Luanna. Nevertheless buries his sorrows in wine when he hears of his death, as he no longer has any hope of a cure for his wife.

Marcos (extra notes): Called “Boulder”. When he uses his specialty magic, he can become a nearly 3 meter tall rock-covered giant (despite that, he can still wield his sword). Chosen as the knight’s commander for having solved Garitch’s case. (It’s unknown if the commander position was empty for the 14 years after Wilhelm departed until Marcos was appointed.)

“Color” titles: After Lugunica suffered during the Demihuman War due to the tactical magic used by the demihumans, these titles were established in a post-war reorganization that included the power of the demihumans in the new magic system. The titles are given to those who reach the apex of mastery in one of the six affinities of magic. ‘Fire’ is ‘red’, ‘water’ is ‘blue’, ‘wind’ is ‘green’, ‘earth’ is ‘yellow’, ‘shadow’ is ‘black’, ‘light’ is ‘white’. At the time of the royal selection, white and black are absent, blue is Ferris, and the last three are held by Roswaal.

Orcos Territory's Red Snow

Victor Orcos, a lord of the Holy Empire of Gusteko, comes under suspicion of human trafficking. The “Crimson Hunters” (A mercenary group hired by the lord of the neighboring domain Kenash) and the assassin Elsa move to annihilate the soldiers defending the Orcos domain. When Elsa learns that the circumstances are different than was explained to her, she is attacked by a spirit knight dispatched to ensure her silence. Covers the details of event called “Orcos Territory’s Red Snow”, written of in the Re: Zero Visual Complete Vol. 2’s character introduction, that led to Elsa being the target of a manhunt.

(Note: summoner may actually have been ‘a summoned person’; perhaps they’re asking if someone from another world is in Elsa’s family tree.)

Spirits die when their spirit arts user is killed, but it’s not clear if this means they are forced back to their true form (as Puck was when Emilia died), or they vanish entirely.
