One Piece - Chapter 1083 [manga]
Welcome to the weekly manga discussion thread for One Piece.
Thread GuidelineBriefs
Vacay is over! Interestingly, spoilers did NOT come courtesy of Redon this time around: -Chapter title is "The truth of that day". Splash features Doflamingo. -We continue immediately where last chapter left off, with Sabo explaining what happened at the Reverie. He says they accomplished their three goals: Declaring war on the WG, rescuing Kuma along with several captive slaves, and destroying the world nobles' food supplies. As for Dragon's side, they managed to successfully convince eight nations to rebel against the WG, and are intercepting supply ships headed for Mariejois. However, as we learned a while back, one of those rebel kingdoms, Lulusia, ended up getting erased. Dragon also warns that the true battle will begin once the government deploys their Holy Knights (aka God's Knights) against them. Interestingly, there seems to be NINE of these knights, and one of their silhouettes resembles SHANKS. -Soon, they touch upon the subject of the assassination of Alabasta's king, Nefertari Cobra... which leads to a flashback. Shortly after the Reverie began, Sabo and the RA commanders launch their attack on the Celestial Dragons! It's here that we learn the Devil Fruit power of northern commander Karasu: The Susu Susu (Soot) no Mi! Naturally, his power lets him control soot, which come in the form of crows! It's not long before admirals Fujitora and Ryokugyu get involved, and CP0 are watching the battle, as well! The commanders are putting up a decent fight against these powerful forces, but it's noted that the admirals are holding back due to the fact that they have to protect the CDs. Meanwhile, Sabo finds Kuma, who's still under the custody of saints Rosward and Charloss.... the latter of whom still has designs on Shirahoshi. Vivi, who's being escorted by Lucci, is aware of the danger the mermaid princess is in.... -The chapter ends with a wheelchair-ridden Cobra, who sets off alone to meet with the Five Elders. He tells his trusted guards Pell and Chaka to look after his daughter, Vivi..... Last edited by marvelB; 2023-05-11 at 12:48. |

Having seen the spoilers, Imp still does not appear (I suppose it will be for the next chapter), about the guy who looks like Shanks, maybe the World Government created a robot similar to him (I don't think it's Shanks himself), and about Cobra I guess he died from learning something he shouldn't or something like that, wait for more spoilers!.

Why is it that whenever the word 'holy' is attached to something, they always turn out to be evil?
I cannot see Shanks being one of these 'Holy Knights' reason being is that he stole the Gomu Gomu no mi or whatever it's actually called. If he was loyal to the WG I cannot see him pulling a stunt like that.

Hopefully, we got further information today and next week, iirc Shueisha releases it every Wednesday.
Man, it's good to see the entire CP9 back in action (Minus Spandam), since we haven't seen him in action other than being bossy in Dressrossa. |

A bit late, but summary updated! Heh, I wasn't even aware the fan TL came out early. Anyway, lots of interesting stuff to take in.... though more than anything, I'm surprised Oda actually followed up on (FINALLY) showing us the Reverie flashback. Thought for sure that we'd have to wait until Egghead wrapped up before we got this, lol.
Anyway, rather unique choice of DF for Karasu. I'm tempted to lean on it being a Logia, but I'm unsure if soot can be considered an "element". Maybe he's more like Katakuri, a special Paramecia type? Also, it was indeed nice to see the rest of the old CP9 gang again. Wonder if any of them have awakened DF powers? Gotta admit, I would LOVE to see how an awakened door fruit would work in Blueno's hands. As far as the Holy/God Knights go, I obviously can't say for sure if Shanks is among them... but as Kanon said, it would make sense in retrospect considering the elders respected him enough to grant him an audience during the Reverie. There's also the fact that Sengoku complied with his demand to stop the war at Marineford.... IIRC, Sengoku specifically said that he was willing to cooperate precisely because it was Shanks. Which makes one wonder... would the marines have stopped fighting if it were Big Mom or Kaidou who appeared at that moment? Anyway, either Shanks is some sort of double agent for the WG, or maybe he has some relative who's a knight.... though it would be kinda corny if Oda suddenly revealed the emperor had some secret twin brother who served the WG or whatever, lol. Or could this be more clone shenanigans at play here, like with Stussy....? |

Having seen the chapter, the Commanders of the Revolutionary Army were giving a good fight to the Admirals, the members of CP9 are now members of CP0, and Cobra will talk to Goroise, I wonder if we will see Imp in the next chapter, to wait for the next chapter !.

While the newly revealed Devil Fruit is a highlight, I can’t help but wonder what had happened with Shirahoshi at that event. I hope we learn the names of the Elder Stars in the next chapter. Would also be interested in seeing these “Holy Knights”.

The only other hint we got was from King Neptune, who said that "this year's one was... bad." |

Then again, Garp doesn't care about them since it's one of his moral codes to not serve Tenryubito. |
