Chris Pine is a wise-cracking bard in D&D: Honor Among Thieves trailer

"Honor Among Thieves is set in the hugely popular Forgotten Realms campaign. The film's official premise is short and sweet: "A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.""

Chris Pine Heads to Dungeons & Dragons' Other Famous City in a New Movie Tie-In

"Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is coming in hotter than a red dragon’s flame breath in April next year, but before you meet its band of misfit heroes on the big screen, they will make their introductions in a series of tie-in novels early next year—including Chris Pine’s charismatic bard.

io9 already brought you the news of E.K. Johnston’s The Druid’s Call a few months ago, following Sophia Lillis’ Tiefling Druid Doric, but now we can give you a first look at the cover for The Road to Neverwinter."

Dungeons & Dragons' New License Tightens Its Grip on Competition

"The new Dungeons & Dragons Open Gaming License, a document which allows a vast
group of independent publishers to use the basic game rules created by D&D owner
Wizards of the Coast, significantly restricts the kind of content allowed and requires
anyone making money under the license to report their products to Wizards of the Coast
directly, according to an analysis of a leaked draft of the document, dated mid-
December.

Despite reassurances from Wizards of the Coast last month, the original OGL will
become an “unauthorized” agreement, and it appears no new content will be permitted
to be created under the original license."

Wizards of the Coast Cancels OGL Announcement After Online Ire

"Dungeons & Dragons publisher Wizards of the Coast has apparently cancelled an announcement
about its updated Open Gaming License for a second time this week. Inside sources at Wizards of
the Coast tell io9 that the company is scrambling to formulate a response to backlash against the
new OGL that has occurred over the past week,"

Cancelled D&D Beyond Subscriptions Forced Hasbro's Hand

"Despite reassurances from the Hasbro subsidiary, Wizards of the Coast (WotC) may
have already suffered the consequences of their week of silence. Multiple sources from
inside WotC tell Gizmodo that the situation inside the castle is dire, and Hasbro’s
concern is less about public image and more about the IP hoard the dragon sits on.

The bottom line seems to be: After a fan-led campaign to cancel D&D Beyond
subscriptions went viral, it sent a message to WotC and Hasbro higher-ups. According to
multiple sources, these immediate financial consequences were the main thing that
forced them to respond. The decision to further delay the rollout of the new Open
Gaming License and then adjust the messaging around the rollout occurred because of a
“provable impact” on their bottom line.

According to those sources, in meetings and communication with employees, WotC
management’s messaging has been that fans are “overreacting” to the leaked draft,
and that in a few months, nobody will remember the uproar."

Chris Pine battles undead army in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves trailer

"With a cinematic release just two months away, Paramount Pictures has released a fresh action-packed and goofy-but-fun trailer for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. The trailer has already racked up more than 8 million views on YouTube, which bodes well for the movie's box office reception.

As we've reported previously, Honor Among Thieves is set in the hugely popular Forgotten Realms campaign setting. The film's official premise is short and sweet: "A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.""

More on the D&D licensing fiasco:

D&D maker retreats from attempts to update longstanding
“open” license

"Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) owner Wizards of the Coast (WotC)
has halted its attempts to update the longstanding Open Gaming
License (OGL) that has dictated the legal use of the game's rules
for decades. The move comes after weeks of controversy and
belated attempts to partially scale back leaked plans for an OGL
update."

Paizo Isn't Backing Down from Creating Its Universal
RPG License

"In the early days of the OGL controversy, fellow publisher Paizo
announced its plans to create its own Open RPG Creative License,
aka the ORC. The move was made as a way to secure the TTRPG
world’s future that Wizards had suddenly upended, and Paizo
said from the jump that it planned for the ORC to be open to all
third-party developers. Even as Wizards is now choosing to
leave its original OGL alone, Paizo confirmed on Twitter that it’s
sticking with its plans to create the ORC."

Paizo Releases First Draft for Its Universal RPG
License to the Public

"Just as the weekend started, TTRPG company Paizo has published
the first draft of its Open RPG Creative License (ORC).

This comes months after president Jim Butler said the company
was looking into the matter when Wizards of the Coast was
preparing to deauthorize its own ORC this past January. Though
Wizards later backed down from those changes following weeks
of controversy, Paizo remained committed to getting its ORC out
the door. Made in collaboration with intellectual property law firm
Azora, Paizo hopes the ORC will allow for common game
mechanics to be spread across the wider tabletop space and be
used without fear of infringing on a company’s copyright."

^ Honestly feels to me AnimeFan188 is either botted or hacked.

But that aside, just watched "Honor among thieves" during Easter weekend and was pleasantly surprised. I went in blind and didn't know that it was set in Forgotten Realms. Aside from the nostalgia it brings up referencing all the lore of various factions, figures and cities in Faerun, the whole movie was thoroughly entertaining; the gags were good. By far, one of the best D&D rendition on the big screen, at least imo. The one only thing I didn't like was the portrayal of Elminster. Other than that, the entire movie was very enjoyable and I hope to see more D&D movies from the same writers.

I liked it too.

And Elminster wasn't really in it.

Dungeons & Dragons Reveals 24-Hour Streaming Channel Plans

"Hasbro announced that it's rolling out Dungeons & Dragons Adventure, a new
free, ad-supported television channel that will feature a variety of shows from
familiar faces. Although Entertainment One (eOne, the video and game media
arm of Hasbro) hasn't announced the distribution yet, Variety reports that it is
