Are You Okay With a Slightly Older Girlfriend?
Licensed by J-Novel Club Amazon Description: First-year high school student Momota Kaoru just saved a beautiful high school girl, Orihara Hime, from a train molester. One thing leads to another, and they end up going on a date! They have a lot in common: they both love video games, they both jam to their favorite songs on mixtapes, they were even both born in the Year of the Snake. Except... Orihara’s first game console used cartridges... and her old mixtapes are all on MiniDisc... and, oh, her birthday is actually 12 years before Momota’s! When her secret comes out, she thinks it must all be over... but will Momota really let something like a little age gap get in the way of his love for Orihara? Find out if love really can transcend generations in this sugar-sweet romantic comedy! |

Does it explain how a 27-year-old woman is still in high school?
Odd that this LN is banking on a double standard working in its favour. A 15-year-old boy being pursued by a 27-year-old woman, considered to be a "Christmas cake" in Japan? The LN is banking on the readers thinking this is "cute." But reverse the sexes and you'd get outcries of "Robbing the Cradle," "Creepy," and worse if it were a 27-year-old man pursuing a 15-year-old girl. A "little age gap"? That's not the common perception if you think of it one way. |

Regarding the main heroine:
Spoiler for explanation about the school uniform:
For the double standard: I don't disagree that a lot of people would react differently if the ages were reversed, but Spoiler for who pursues who:

Even without reversing the ages, you still have the "power differential" people mention in these cases, and if the story is at all realistic, not everyone in the story is going to be "peachy-keen" on this pairing. |

People aren't okay with it... All of their friends reacted with shock and horror before reluctantly realizing they couldn't stop it from happening. Not to mention aside from a small group of people, they don't tell anyone. Momota and Orihara try their best to avoid being seen together in public while close to home, or pretend to be relatives if it happens. |
