I just wish they release a HD blu-ray boxset with the complete original series. Last time I checked the hard part was recreating the CGI in high definition (it seems it was generated in SD, which at the time made sense since that was the resolutions of TV screens).

I've been recently rewatching the show using that version and it does look pretty good. Pure live action scenes look great, pure CGI looks better than ever and it's only the composited scenes that look a bit blurry but not too bad. There are some extra spoilers in the openings though (mostly season 4 where the OP was meant to change halfway into the season and the new version just uses the same all the way through).

B5 update:
The ‘Babylon 5’ reboot will survive the sale of The CW "Toward the end of last year, it was revealed that seminal ‘90s sci-fi series Babylon 5 would be rebooted by creator J. Michael Straczynski for the CW. Not long after, however, and WarnerMedia put its youth-skewed channel up for sale, putting the show’s shot at a second life in jeopardy. Today, however, Straczynski has revealed on his Patreon that CW head Mark Pedowitz has personally guaranteed the pilot’s survival. Rather than being shot and produced in preparation for a late-2022 launch date, says Straczynski, it’ll now be top of the pile for the 2023 slate. “The project is very much alive,” he added, even if “we will have to wait a little longer,” to see it hit the screen. Given that Pedowitz is apparently a big fan of the show, hopefully the postponement can only be seen as a positive despite all of the turmoil that surrounds the channel." More B5 inbound:
'Babylon 5' will return as an animated movie from its original creator "We’ve known there was a reboot coming of 1990s sci-fi cult hit Babylon 5 for a while now, but we didn’t have any concrete details until today. Original series creator J. Michael Straczynski just announced that it’s an animated feature length film developed by Warner Bros. Animation. Straczynski is quiet regarding plot details but did say that the movie is “classic B5” with a “raucous, heartfelt” story, going on to suggest that the cartoon feature is “the most B5-ish” project since the original series bowed out in 1998. He also said that the movie is completely finished and just awaiting release. In other words, it’ll likely be a matter of months, not years, before mega-fans get their eyeballs on this one." Babylon 5: The Road Home's First Trailer Leaves a
Sci-Fi Legend Lost in Time "Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for The Road Home, a brand new Babylon 5 continuation penned by series architect J. Michael Straczynski. Set in the wake of the devastating second Shadow War seen in the show’s fifth season, the movie follows Captain Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner) as he travels to the Minbari homeworld to witness the opening of a new, tachyon-powered facility—only for an accident to begin displacing him out of time, sending the president of the Interstellar Alliance across a whole multiverse of timelines and realities he has to navigate to find his way back home." Watching this trailer made me realize I've pretty much forgotten everything that happened in the original series. Rewatch is in order... but it's on Apple TV+ here, the only streaming service I don't have. I'll just get one month, marathon it, then cancel.
