Unhappily reunited childhood friend
Simple request. I'm looking for stories where the hero is reunited with one or more childhood friends after a very long separation, and said childhood friends are very unwelcoming. Stuff where the hero has to work to make friends with them again or figure out why they'd started to resent him and make amends. Saw a bit of this at the beginning of the horror manga series "When the Bell Tolls in the Town with no Crematorium": the hero's family had moved away when he was little, and when he came back he was eager to meet up again with his childhood friend, who acted like she despised him for leaving (whole lot of other stuff going on since this's basically something like a zombie series but that initial relationship is my key point).
