Plot

Quote:

The original classic supernatural adventure anime aired from 1968 to1969. In the original 26-episode anime, Bem, Bela, and Belo are ugly humanoid monsters (yōkai) who fight for justice. The monsters live among humans and protect them from evil yōkai. The three find themselves ostracized from both humans and other yōkai, but the three continue to fight in hopes of one day becoming humans themselves.

Know nothing about the original, but I'm intrigued to see what it's going to be like.

Seems we live in a world of anime revivals.

Did like the music in the trailer, hope that's in the show.

This is the first time I've heard of this series, but I'll be watching it for sure. I'm all for revival of old anime/manga.

Is Katsuyuki Konishi making some kind of a comeback? Not that he ever really left but this feels like the 2nd or 3rd show he's been recently announced as the main lead of.

I do recall Yokai Ningen Bem.

The first series is a late 1960's classic, TV-anime show, but I'm more acquainted with the 2006 iteration that managed to reach airing in the Latin American Animax channel.

It is a fun show, and Bem and his peers possess quite interesting personalities. If I remember, their motivation to protect humans lies in their hopes to become humans themselves through their good deeds.

Counting me in for this new series.

Bem's youkai/monster form reminds me of the monsters from Blood+. Clothes don't magically reappear when the transformation is undone so that means naked Bela (who totally looks like Morgana from Magi) incoming!

I thought the episode had the right amount of intrigue and action.

Wasn't bad at all, action and atmosphere was good. The op was composed by Shiina Ringo, no wonder it sounded familiar. Wasn't expecting to like this really, hope it can be a sleeper hit.

Mediocre first episode. Too much focus on the useless newbie cop, not enough focus on Bela and Belu who seemed like much more interesting characters.

I'm gonna give it one more episode but it's looking like a waste of time.
