Article from Madhouse about working on the trailer. "I was too busy... But it was Hunter X Hunter, so I did it." You hear this over and over about H x H 2011 - this was an obvious labor of love for everyone involved, this show.

Finally gotten back into this one, and I think this would be a excellent series to discuss as I watch.

Episode 57-60:

Ah, quite a thrilling conclusion to the Yorknew City arc. I'm a bit surprised that Gon would be concerned about anyone killing anyone, but it's nice to see Kurapika not letting his rage get the better of him. But considering that Kurapika took away Chrollo's ability to use nen, I imagine Hisoka will want him dead now.
As for the Greed Island arc, the rules are if you die in the game then you die in real life, and if Ging made this game, why the hey he did make this game like this (or at all?) and you collect cards to use in battle and win the game. So in a way it's like WIXOSS except with actual consequences, and RPG elements, and you have to complete the whole game before you can return to the real world, and nothing like WIXOSS.
In order for Gon to continue he has to get stronger, and in order to get stronger he has to focus all his energy into one part of his body, which reminds me of Deku in Hero Academia.

Episode 61-64:

Ah, the set-up in this arc reminds me a bit of Log Horizon.

After rejecting the offer by those anti-bomber guys, the cute girl who is super obviously a main character appears before Gon and Killua asking to join them on their journey, but Killua knows better then to trust a cute girl, as after all looks can be deceiving (like how she looks like a little girl but is in fact a middle-aged woman!?)

Episode 63 features a guy who looks like a Hisoka wannabe. I don't get this training, I mean how do you avoid someone's attacks for two weeks straight when confined to a relatively small area and it seems just unfair to the one guy. But this episode confirms that Biscuit wants to find gems and by gems the show means talented hunters, I just don't get why she makes them dig tunnels, did she think they were playing Minecraft?

I don't understand why the bomber tricked these people into believing he was a good guy, when they were just going to force them to do their bidding anyways.

I watched the two Hunter x Hunter movies. I've been told they are quite inferior to the original series but I wanted to watch them since the original group of protagonists finally gather. The first movie was definitely the superior in animation and story. It starts weird with Kurapika's first battle taking place in a flashback and then we see his friendship with his enemy. Still, Gon and Killua kinda steal the movie though the latter sure felt weak due to how Illumi's needle forced him to escape.

The second movie felt kinda generic in terms of villains and powers to the point it felt like Bleach. Even the main villain felt like something Kubo designs. They even introduced another power that is never used again. Kurapika has a nice gathering and fight but it sure lacks time. It's like if the movie was directed by somebody else.
