Just noticed Hayama's eyes kind of looked dead in this chapter. Moreover, he looked away when Soma asked the question. Perhaps he was blackmailed with the Shiomi seminar at stake? Maybe he needs to beat Soma to keep the Seminar in secret? He's trying waaay too hard to look like a bad guy.

I hope you guys are saying Hayama's just trying too hard to act like a villain are right. It'd at least be good to know that he still cares about Shiomi and her seminar, though the fact itself that it's being used to blackmail him does suck. That and it's also predictable.

And yeah, I agree: He's acting too edgy.

Anyway, the rematch should be good. I hope Souma beats him and then, if it turns out that he's really being blackmailed with the Shiomi Seminar at stake, also offer to help him out. Hopefully in a way and situation that Hayama will accept it.

I am not sure about it. We had been reading Soma VS Hayama for 2 times, and I am certainly not looking forward for 3rd times. Just as someone said, it should be good match if it is Megumi or Takumi Vs Hayama in the next exam, but certainly not Soma at this point.

My bet is these are the matchups Soma vs hayama. Mimisaka vs Takumi and Megumi will probably battle sweets girl. I wish they'd put Hisako against Erina but thats a pipe dream.

The reason he's doing this is obvious. Azami basically told him that he'll be made temporary seat and if he defeats Soma then he'll bring Jun and her seminar back

While I agree that what Hayama said was stupid given who Soma's faced off against, TECHNICALLY he's right in that he's done more to rise to the top. After all, Soma is an unranked rebel on the outs while Hayama is now 9th seat.

Quite possibly the only thing he said that made any sense, even if it was a contrived technicality.

Actually lets look at the E10 battles with a realistic lense. He faced off against Kuuga in selling food its not direct cooking. As for Eizan lets face it Eizan was an arrogant prick who was probably more around for his financial skills then his cooking. If he went all out he would win. So one can look at them with a slight skepticism

He also faced the #1 seat in an unofficial duel and received training from/boarded the ship with the #10 seat (now the #7 seat). Not to mention catching the #2 seat's eye during all this time.

Compared to Hayama who, as far as we're aware, just bent his knee after struggling to break even at the Moon Festival after pairing up with Alice and Ryo.

He lost that duel by the way. he caught Rindo's eye because Soma is bold thats gonna happen. Erina helped them as thanks for the fact they stopped her from going back to being the scared puppy she was.

As for hayama we BOTH know that the 3 of them are a terrible grouping and thats why he struggled. The styles of all 3 are incredibly different and clash.

Exactly. One of the key pillars of Souma's character is that he takes his losses and becomes even stronger from them. Losing to the 1st seat probably doubled his powers

While I like Megumi but she will get destroyed so hard by Momo at this point unless this is another Kubo troll level that Megumi turned out to be extremely godlike in making japanese sweet dishes that somehow unknown to the public.
