2015 SAG-AFTRA strike
One of many articles
The community is pretty divided on the union's plans. Some say they back the members. Others think that they ought to be thankful for their jobs and that the game's production crew that made said game should be the ones to be on strike before the VAs themselves.

Residuals are pretty much the norm in television and movie work, including commercials. There's no reason why video game actors shouldn't receive them as well.
I don't believe the practice in common when it comes to anime seiyuu, though. I believe they just get paid upfront and don't receive further rewards if a show becomes a hit.

I don't think VA in the west have enough influence to drive the sales of a videogame as opposed to franchise and studio brand name. People buy a COD game or a Blizzard game, nobody goes out to buy a Troy Baker game.
So personally, i don't think they can command enough authority/power for residuals especially when you consider how badly the developers are currently treated by big publishers.
