Alright, finished Traum. It kinda left me with more questions than answers...

Geeze. "Death of a Detective" is a loaded title! I'm sure Holmes will pull this off somehow. But I expect him to come close to and appear to die before he does...
But geeze it's crazy to think that a mystery started all the way back during the first arc is finally going to be tackled here. I figured along the way that something was messed up with Holmes because of his master. This whole singularity pointed out the huge impact a master's temperament and mindset can have. So if Holmes has made any errors or been unable to see through something it would certainly appear to tie into whomever summoned him in the first place.

Though maybe I was optimistic on the Holmes thing. This game does tend to kill off the supporting cast every now and then. And I suppose with the truth revealed Holmes did what he had to do. Finding out the Foreign God summoned him before all this stuff began...is a tough one to take. But it does put the pieces into place. And Holmes made sure to pull out the reveal regarding Moriarty's invulnerability before the end. I suppose the one interesting question was what exactly the foreign god wanted him to do?

I did enjoy seeing the older Moriarty sticking it to his younger self. Outright mocking his foolishness. He did "win" but along the way he gave away far too much and cost his ultimate objective. A rather native mistake, but one fitting of his youth. And Holmes was right. The younger Moriarty is far too arrogant. He just started blabbering about his plans and confirmed everything Holmes revealed about his powers. And all while not realizing the truth. His existence is tied to Sherlock Holmes. Defeating and killing him is the end of his story. There can be no fate beyond that point. But beyond that he didn't consider all the factors. Like how Kadoc could trip him up.

And finally Mash made it! Geeze they cut it close! But at least she showed up to help punch Moriarty in the face! Ok, and I know that Chaldea can be a bit soft...but they better not actually take the whole "spare me" thing seriously! I swear this reveal better be worth it! At least the game let us deck the guy. It didn't do any good (though I do remember punching Goetia working out pretty well).

And we just end it with aliens!? What kind of finale was that!? We're just going to leave on that until LB7!? Ok then! Weird, but I suppose aliens wouldn't be fans of humanity. A bit of a strange vibe since we had to sort of move on from Holmes's death. Such is how it goes though. At least that mystery is solved and now the focus can shift to the final LB.

Holmes had been part of the team for so long that I would have never thought about questioning who his real master was. I figured the explanation he gave in Shinjuku was good enough, but there was a lot more to it than meets the eye.
It's absolutely nuts he was a Disciple of the Foreign God, the fact he erased his memories and basically fabricated a nicer personality compared to his real self made him really above suspicions. It's not too dissimilar to what Moriarty did in Shinjuku. Obviously, the Holmes we knew was 100% on humanity's side (or so he believed) and loved Chaldea, the question is whether he actually accomplished his secret mission for the Foreign God or not. His death hit me harder than Romani's to be honest. He's been with us for so long, and he was such a lovable guy. There are hints he might come back but I'm not so sure, he was very aware he could be made to turn against Chaldea and would have made sure he did die to prevent it.

The final reveal was the culmination of that one guy's side story traveling the Bleached Earth, which ended with him reaching Area 51 and getting killed.

As for the questions I have...

- What the fuck was the point of Charlemagne being there? He was the face of the singularity and he barely did anything. They didn't even explain why he was depowered beyond "I had an argument with my older self". I'm guessing that's Extella Link content, but explain a bit! It feels like you could easily write him out of the story and not much would change. He was just there.
- What did they have Xu Fu leave a last minute message saying everyone probably had a different Master which would have been a huge twist... only for it to be revealed to really just be one Master (the alien)?
- Why did they end it there? Are they even going to follow up on that? We see the Alien, and boom, story over and the singularity disappears. No epilogue.

Anyway, things I really liked about it:

- Johanna, Kriemhild, and Don Quixote were great characters. The reveal the Don was actually summoned in Atlantis and escaped there was a great one.
- We finally met Roland! And he's kinda nowhere as nuts as Astolfo described him, he's just a nudist. His sacrifice was a cool moment.
- Having Kadoc with us was awesome. Having someone with a fresh perspective on things brought a lot to the story. And his actions here were really cool, we would have never made it this far without him.
- Holmes twist was great. I wonder who's going to replace him, his death leaves a big hole.

Apparently playing Traum is not a requirement for LB7, which is very WTF considering a prominent member of Chaldea's staff freaking died!

Traum makes no sense tbh. Either that or FGO finally need to wrap it's head around whether events are canon or not. How is it no one recognized Astolfo or Xu Fu? Meanwhile Dairmund got recognized?

As for the rolls... I did one 30 roll for Kriemhild... Somehow got her and Charlemagne as a bonus. I guess my luck is gone for this year.

Astolfo is probably an oversight, or they just want to forget Agartha ever existed. I don't think it has to do with Epic of Remnant not being mandatory since they knew Moriarty.

Xu Fu appeared in an event, and they don't reference them in the main story since people may not have played them. Same goes for Konstantinos who first showed up in the glasses event.

Diarmuid showed up in the fifth Singularity, so he gets recognized. Same with

They may claim events are canon, but as I said, they ignore them in the main story. That's been fairly consistent, I think, but I haven't been playing very long compared to the rest of you do what do I even know?

That said, the timeline of the events as compared to the main plot is not super well established regardless of if you believe they're canon or not, so one could argue that the event just hasn't happened yet

That they ignore it being wrong is my precise point, since the events even got referenced as canon in several places around the story. I believe one example is when DaVinci does the math on Gudako's salary.

Not just them, there was a Demon Pillar specifically for event servants. Every single one of them showed up. Some were familiar faces from other works in the franchise, but I personally felt quite alienated when I got to this part because I had no idea who most of those people were (Brynhild, Dantes, Raikou, Shuten, Ibaraki Nobunaga, Okita, Koutarou, etc...), at least when it came to how they were characterized in FGO. I think they came to realize it would be problematic to repeatedly do this so starting with Cosmos in the Lostbelt, they completely banned references to past events. Even the Servants summoned from Chaldea's Saint Graph briefcase already showed up in the main story (EoR and interludes like Seraph count as main story). No exception I can think of.

Personally, I think it's easier to think of it as two different timelines:

- One where only the Main story + interludes happened, which is what we get when we play the story.
- One where absolutely everything is canon including events, which we switch to during events. Main story is assumed to have proceeded mostly the same as in the first timeline.

I'm going to be honest (and it's my bad for presuming) but I honestly thought Don Quixote was going to be a 3* servant . I did enjoy his character in the story, but I didn't get a 4* feel from him. Though I guess it should have been obvious when we didn't get him gifted at the end of the story...Kind of fitting I guess with his appearance getting progressively beaten up as the ascensions go along.

Love the story of Don Quixote and enjoyed his personality. But yeah, I probably am going to skip that banner .

So the Grail Front lands on the 21st.

Barghest really is good for Grail Fronts, her second skill allowing her to recover 1000HP per attack makes her very resilient, and her NP which reduces her skill cooldown allows you to have her almost constantly using that skill. She destroyed the Valkyries today and did quite a number on Tomoe.

Todays map has taught me how OP Izo is when paired with Hans lol. Not sure why I even brought Jeanne to begin with.

I'm enjoying quite a few characters in this grail front. The last one was insanely. Heracles with his bond CE is a monster for this sort of mode. But so is Yang Guifei. Just threw that honey lake CE on her and she was just running through everyone.

The first two were honestly just purely solo'd by Melusine for me. Didn't even really need to bust out the third skill. Just blasting away everything. First skill adds to her bulk and can bring everything that isn't a saber or ruler pretty fast.

Artemis and Orion must have bee like "Don't worry dear, I'm a divine spirit. There is almost nothing that can hurt m.... OH SHIT IT'S HERACLES!" when I got the item she was guarding. Ands then i finished her off with Tamamo instead just to speed up the front...

I got Moriarty on my first 11-roll, but no Don Quixote. Almost the same for Charlemagne, but no Kriemhild. :\

I actually got Kriemhild after two weeks of pushing the paid SQ button. Then I got greedy and threw 20 tickets in an attempt to get her at NP2 and got nothing.
