Late reply, but I guess that the first four episodes aired in theatres as a preview. I'll put this in spoiler tags since it's based on raws.

It seems like at least the beginning is paced almost identically, which actually surprises me a lot.

The only thing I guess I'm wondering is if maybe later on they'll switch to adapting the manga instead of the LNs directly, which would provide them a different way to "fast forward" through some of the arcs. Because if they end up doing this anime but only get to the same point again, it seems like a bit of a weird choice for me.

I would have thought they'd somehow try to catch up to the end of the original plot so that it eases people into Wolf & Parchment and Spring Log a bit more, but maybe they just think the new anime itself will raise interest in the source material regardless.
