It's an idea with potential, but my consideration would be that the Incubators vastly, vastly, VASTLY outclass humanity in technological potential, and they directly control our access to magic.
The most realistic scenario is that humanity advances to a technological singularity and greets the Incubators as equals....then destroys them. Violently.
