It's not so complicated...
They are the same people we always knew. They simple happened to be born with different names, and by "accident", had to switch identities long ago...
I think it is pointless starting calling Shion (the one that fell in love with Satoshi) as Mion now (and vice-versa). She "lost" this name, no matter what...

There is only one thing
