I could see why. It dives immediately in with almost no setup, very limited exposition, before immediately escalating the conflict (sister gets eaten, go save her).
Knowing what's coming to somewhat temper it, I still found the first episode to be
relentlessly efficient, right on the degree of being a negative trait.

It's worth the hype, the narrative structure is just a bit unconventional, especially these first two segments. It feels barebones now, but it is pretty faithful.
