The idea here is that Ataru is the most unluckiest person in the world, right down to him being born on April 13th (4 and 13 being known as unlucky numbers) on a Friday and in the middle of an earthquake. Add the fact that he's a pervert, and of course people are not going to like him.

Not familiar with White Album. However, when comparing Ataru with Makoto, Makoto is definitely much worse IMO. At least Ataru has some positive traits (and is stopped from doing the deed).
