Hara definitely embellishes, and he peppers the story with entirely fictional characters strategically placed. But in a fight between two well-known figures, he’ll color between the lines.
It’s like Cheng Jiao. He’s an important historical figure - not one of the biggest of the era, but big enough that we know the highlights, like where and when he died. And, well - he died at Tunliu. That’s non-negotiable for Hara - he wouldn’t fudge a fact like that for a relatively major character.
