just a tidbit of info. I believe Type-Moon the creators of Fate: S/N game have been big supporters of Higurashi well before the anime. Chie-sensei is a parody of the character Ciel from one of Type-Moon's earlier works.
Chie Rumiko => Chi-e-Ru (cut the rest) => Ci-e-l
They're both curry fanatics too ^^
