I was never in favour of the new designs (see my previous comments for the reasons) - if you do like the new designs, good on you�� hope you enjoy the new series!
I personally believe that a character’s appearance is one of the major factor in enjoying a series. The puppet’s movement might be great (skilled puppet master), the story of the play might be great and interesting (award-winning writer), the puppet’s voice might be graceful and captivating (great voice actor/actress), but if the puppet is disheveled (or in a rude term: looked like sh*t), well...
