For what it's worth, Madeleine L'Engle's 1994 novel Troubling a Star is about a teenage girl going to Antarctica.
Many of my stories are about kids doing math and science, and I've done a lot of thinking about how to justify putting kids into scientific projects that are supposed to be adults-only. I like that this show is taking the question seriously, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they do it.
