Episode 4
Very strong episode.
- The confrontation with Chloe helps to characterize and summarize their conflict and why Chloe wanted to kill her - Illya's rejection of supernatural and the things she is fearful of, as well as her tendency to run away from them. This episode is kind of a nice book end with Illya chosing to face it.
- It spells out why Illya could do Excalibur in the first season but Chloe can't now - because she is only half of the whole.
- It helps to show how far Illya came in accepting Chloe and that she does not want to be separated from her again. She is well on her way towards accepting herself as a whole.
- It helps to contextualize and characterize Miyu's time in Illya's world through Illya's despair now.
The fight was nice even if it is clear they are saving up budget for the finale.
This was a nice reference to FHA tho.
And the music? the music was glorious. Any doubts I had about composers are gone now.
