The most Subaru's ever got from Emilia is the desire to be accepted and treated as an equal friend. He really should just go for Rem. The show can end happily with a Subaru/Rem couple with Emilia as a queen and Subaru as a trusted friend.  |
Considering how many times she keeps dying for him, I'm really thinking the author has that as the planned ending.
