...and I just realised another mistranslation on a rewatch...

Mirage's line about the planet Alfheim that Messer is from should read like this:

"Two years ago, Marienburg, a city from the planet Alfheim, was wiped out because of a Var outbreak. I heard that you're a survivor from that outbreak..."
