They really could have toned down the bath and BL jokes in the first cour for making rooms for all these plots. Especially the lab since it's pretty important that the other members in Haku's party to see the jellifying process of the old human.

Yeah, Emperor literally used the serum to alter his and Haku's DNA so that they become something different than human to repel the curse, also they have a longer lifespan.

Amaterasu the Death Satellite was fired twice against Iceman. The first was by the other labs, who had decided to cut their losses and destroy the Japanese lab along with Iceman; either Iceman or Mutsumi blocked it, and Iceman retaliated by blowing the massive hole in China you see on the map. The second time was Mutsumi.
