Since getting involved in the war, he basically doesn't meet her on his own, and later when they are finally alone together in a kill or be killed situation, Sariel already had awakened to the kaichou's memories, thus he can't bring himself to harm her (nor her to him), even though he totally despises her.......
...... He almost kills her when they did it due to the intensity, if that counts
