I don't think it's likely anyone will hate you: if it's about events, most players are Japanese anyway and will have their own sources.
It seems that really is how overkill is calculated.
(Also I really recommend that you get Shizuku or Juumonji so that you can use a good Shizuku supporter and speed up your 3-4 farming.)
