I'm relatively new to the series, having just gotten caught up with the anime this week (partly due to learning about the Vita game), and I haven't looked at any of the LN material.
But so far, the impression I get is that, whatever happened to Tatsuya and Miyuki, she seems to have ended up with more than her fair share of emotional capacity, in contrast to his own weakness in that area.
As in, had both siblings with born with a 1.0 quota, something in their past shifted the balance to .3 or so in his case, and to 1.7 in hers.
(Perhaps that might explain how intense her feelings towards him are?)
