Especially given that he indicated a desire to suck up to Miyuki, his failure to heed her blatant "I am unhappy with your behavior" cues is remarkably incompetent for a professional butler. The fact that he not only continued the unwanted behavior but actually grew even more insulting would not, under normal circumstances, speak well for his long-term employment. Or survivial... I was surprised it took that long for things to start freezing.

Multiple spells hitting the target increase the difficulty of using more magic on the target, depending on the strength of the spells and the number of them. They also interfere with each other. So with lots of powerful young students all casting magic in unison, they basically create a huge flux of magic and screw things up. And now it's /really hard/ to cast magic targeting that vehicle sliding towards them.

Ah, thank you. In that case I imagine Miyuki may have to solve the problem? If she holds off until after they've all screwed up, she may be the only one with enough power to break through the mess they make. I suppose Tatsuya might be able to do something too...
