I would like say love triangle is just sideshow for me too, but I would lie. Macross is only franchise I know that allows better girl to win, which is not just impossible in any other mecha show (yes, I look on you Sunrise
), but very rare in general. So I can't not give it lot and lot credit for it.
PS: but Valkyries are still one of best mechas ever.
