You also have to realize, the BETA are incredibly adaptive. There was no Laser-class when the BETA initially invaded (on the moon, or Mars). Those Laser-class BETA only emerged after humanity was having successes with their aerial superiority during the first phases of the BETA invasion.

The BETA have a literal universe of information to derive countermeasures. As per their true nature, it's not far to presume they can transmit information between occupied worlds, as they already are able to transport resources out of system. Given what we know, the BETA are almost completely responsive; the only reason they haven't evolved a ultra-powerful breed of super-BETA to crush us is that we haven't used anything powerful enough to warrant such a evolution.
