I've been wondering this, but can someone explain to me why they believe Zeref himself is evil? The people that seem to worship him, sure, but Zeref himself? He used to be, but from what i saw in the last arc it doesn't seem so. He kept talking about repenting for his sins, about not wanting to hurt others anymore, etc. And he even killed Hades after all the bad stuff he did. A sort of justice in a sense i guess. He never seemed evil or mean or bad to me. Zeref himself acts grandiose in the sense that it's "His job" to cleanse all the evil in the world.
In most cases, people assume fairly easily that the power of death = Evil.
Zeref himself said, "that this age has come to an end".
Also, you need to consider zeref has two sides.
The base and the awakened. Both could harness magic, but his awakened form shows killing intent.
Either way, it sounds as tho zeref is totally berserk and can easily be a loose cannon.
