I've read a couple of volumes into the manga right on the heels of the anime finishing its course, and it seems like they were in the middle of the same tournament as well. Just to give an idea, I believe I was somewhere at volume 4-ish, the manga has been running since 2006, and the current tankobon count is at 7. IIRC, Kobayashi assisted them with the story when it overtook the source material. The only way for this to become a second season would be for Ritz to spoil whatever might be ahead, or go in a different direction entirely. Of course, I don't think anyone cared for the story more than they did
something else.
