Millions of ships? Is it really that many?

Spoiler for End of SDF Macross:

I thought that only a small fraction of Britai's fleet survived, and there'd be nowhere near a million ships; maybe a few thousand, tops.

In any case, I'm not really trying to argue that the UN Spacy would reconfiguring and recrewing the Zentradi ships. I'm just pointing out the advantages the Zentradi would have gained if they were micro-sized to begin with.
